Does anyone have satellite internet?
TheUndertaker
I currently have 56k which plays GW just fine. I live in a black hole and can't get DSL or cable, and I'm thinking of switching to Satellite internet. I was wondering if I would be able to play GW or would the latency issues be to bad. Does anyone have experience with this ?

Normal broadband is about twice as fast as satellite internet service, but the speed leap will still be huge. Your latency issues should decrease, not increase.

I used to have setellite internet. My family got it right when it became available. At first it was rediculously fast. But after a while it became more well known and more and more people were using it and our speeds started to slow down. Not to mention the fact that it will go out with heavy cloud cover or in any storm. We switched over to DSL as soon as it became available to us, and we are gonna be making the move to FIOS pretty soon.
I would definately say satellite is faster than 56k but if I were you I would buy it with the understanding that I would switch to DSL or Cable as soon as it became available to me. Both of those are far more reliable and faster than satellite.

Indeed, I forgot about the whole "clouds" issue. Make sure the weather is okay before getting yourself into a GvG match.

I've talked to both phone co. and cable and neither seem to be planning on getting internet out to my house any time soon.
