Real quick.....

Verata's Sacrafice....Villainy of Galrath....A must for MM (before nerf)

EoE - The Lost Princess...EoE Bomb anyone?

Rebirth - Dropping Eaves...A must have for any Mo/* or /Mo build in high level area farming areas (SF, Uw, FoW Faction Elites).

Need I go on?

Furthermor, in Factions your new character had a very limited selection until Kaineng City and even less skill points or gold available. For me it wasn't an issue, but for someone starting fresh, to get a decent build you had to really grind the quests and farm for gold or your other option was to get the skills that were close eneough for the build you wanted and use that until you could afford to change it.

Insert coin here for idea

*Inserts coin*

How about, give a 1k reward AND you get to choose 2 skills or 1 elite skill?

I started a thread on this awhile ago.

I don't mind if they put skill quests back, as long they also have skill trainers with all skills available early.

Being able to play the build I design for the majority of the game instead of only the very end was great. It is the main reason why I enjoyed Factions so much more than Prophecies.

Also, I like that I can send a Prophecies character to Kaineng to pick up any Factions skill I want for them. If I want a Factions character to have a Prophecies skill, I can't just send them to Lion's Arch. I have to unlock the skill with faction first, then go to LA, and I don't PVP all that often to have a lot faction play with. So I really hope picking up Nightfall skills will be as painless as Factions skills.

Please DO go on since that isn't that many.

With the high amount of XP and money you get in Factions your are BETTER off than you were in Prophecies.

I don't know why people just don't seem to get it.

The best system to make everyone happy is to allow the player to choose their reward after they complete a quest. Say for example you get to choose from:

* More Experience
* Gold Coins
* A skill (let there be a choice of 5 skills so everyone doesnt have the same skills)

With more choices available, you can play each character how you want.

You can still get those skills with your Cantha character. Just travel to Tyria, and do the quests...

I agree I'd have liked to see more skills available in the "pre-Cantha" area. Once you completed all the the beginning quests, no more skills. I do like the idea of having quests give you a choice of skills for your reward, that way you still have customization, and it feels more like role-playing than just buying your skills (never felt right to me).

However, Gold was never really a problem for me. I used Collectors for my armor, never spent a single gold on any bags, runes of holding, salvage kits or identification kits. As far a Gold goes, Factions is much nicer to beginning characters than Prophecy was!

I reckon for quests in Nightfall there should be:

Prophecies exp amount: Factions was fun with the fast leveling but there's no sense of real accomplishment when you're just getting skill points for your hard work.
A small amount of cash: like 250g. Not so much as to completely enable you to be able to buy anything you wanted but still a reasonable sum.

In addition to this there should be some quests that give different skill rewards like this:

Early quests "force feed" you a few skills so you get a feel for a new class and don't "gimp" yourself early game.
After the beginners area then you should get to learn one skill of your choice that is in the Core or Nightfall skill list. This allows people to choose how to play and removes need to farm for cash for skills.
To not completely remove the need for skill points, not all quests would offer skills and the number of skill giving quests would be 10-15 skills less than the total amount.

yeah nightfall needs skill quests my mesmer, necro and warrior all have to pay 1k for each skill now and with the additions I cant really go to town while i'm buying skills even from factions and I have tons of unused skill points. I think i've only bought 10 skills between the 3 in factions and nearly all of them were capture signets.

Ever since I heard that the same team that made Prophecies is the one making Nightfall, I've been hoping that 2 parts of the game will be back to their better, original forms:

1. more PvE content and area. Factions is just too short, too quickly beaten, and too much back and forth

2. quest rewards of skills. The way I see it, Factions encourages stagnant builds. I looked at the skill pages, purchased the few I wanted, and haven't been to a skill trainer since. The manner in which Prophecies continued to give you new skills made me re-evaluate my attributes and skills much more often, to see if the new skills I was getting could benefit my build. I liked this system much better.

Let's see...

Do the quest and get Otyugh's Cry... or do the quest, get a skill point and enough gold to buy the skill of my choice (initial skills do not cost 1K).

Hmm... let me think about it...

/not signed.

Much better the way it is now.

Right, but eventually they will. Thus, the more skills we get for "free," the better. And as pointed out, most established characters are already at the 1k point, making getting all the new skills in a new Chapter rather daunting.

Besides, they could give us a choice of skills as a reward, thus having the best of both worlds.

Great set of counter-examples! The above are skills you would really like to have available before you have to struggle ten hours through the game and fight your way through two of Tyria's most tedious quests!

Rebirth on the Yak's Bend skill trainer > Rebirth from Dropping freaking Eaves.

I bought all skills for all classes in factions too and I didn't have a problem with it. Which ever way they do it in Nightfall, I'm fine with it.
