Okay, when you loot a rune (usually reffered to as a part of armor or clothing etc..) Your first thought is to Identify it. Ok, fine. After you do, check the shown value BEFORE you salvage it (unless you want to use it of course). Now if you want to sell it to the trader or a player, check the rune trader for that type and value of rune. And see what it sells for. If it retails for say 100 gold, and has an unsalvaged value of 180 gold, you will get more selling it to a merchant than using your expert salvage kit and making it a rune. Make sense?
