Why is it coming up as 'this pet name contains disallowed words' when I try to call my pet either 'Bagpuss' or 'Pot Noodle'?
Just how the hell can a classic childrens TV series or a range of tasty snackfood be banned or disallowed? Especially considering the amount of blatently obscene and racist names I've seen around.
Judge for yourselves, how offensive are these?

Bagpuss and Pot Noodle!
What I see that could be deemed offensive with these names...
Bagpuss - Bag refering to a part of the male anatomy, puss refering to a female part of the anatomy.
Pot Noodle - Pot as in marijuana, mary jane - Noodle again we refer to a male part of the anatomy.
Personally Isee nothing wrong with those names.

A guildie of mine and I were amusing ourselves one evening a while back, giving our pets some rather colorful names, and came across several disallowed items.
I won't be able to remember everything disallowed, but with your names in particular, I remember encountering something similar. I believe any combination of "puss/pussy" was disallowed, as well as several, but not all, euphemisms for a specific part of the female anatomy. Also included in the disallowed words were a lot of drug related terms, so "pot", "crack", and things of that sort were also prohibited.
Of course, racist and some other hate-related terms were off limits. But there were several other words I was surprised to find included in this disallowed list. I'm pretty sure "abortion" and its variants, as well as "fetus" were considered naughty words.
Needless to say, it was interesting seeing what was considered "offensive" as determined by A-net.
I find chat filters in general pretty amusing as a rule. Even with this site, the filters are triggered by certain letters in a certain sequence, regardless of context. For example, I have to break from proper english to describe the peac0ck I saw at the zoo, which is harmless when compared to stating something like "OMG did you see the size of that horse RED ENGINE GO etc". Meanwhile, stfu, wtf and all the other acronyms are fair game.

OK...I tried a ton of names for pets and found that some rather offensive ones make it thriugh, but innocent variations of "potential" obscenity gets blocked. There will NEVER be a Puss in Boots...my favorite from Shrek...Bad Kitty works, but my mom's name is Kitty, so I just...can't...use it...too weird.
Truth of the matter is this: With no filter for such things, GW would end up with an M rating, thereby cutting the fan-base and thus, the econo-base for the game...Picture this: Billy is playing GW and sees something he doesn't understand..."Mom, what's a douchenozzle?" (OK, that one might not get filtered so...insert...uh...pick something more obscene...bear with me...) Billy's mom has an aneurysm and files a lawsuit for exposing little Billy to such profanity...not ANet's fault (per se) but they catch the heat. So, to avoid the headache, no Puss in Boots...but for the record: My tiger's name Argus...a gurdian who sacrificed himself to the goddess he was to protect...a bit more meaningful than "Tony"...I had a strider before the tiger...his name: Big Pecker...

Now, I just refer to it as either the 'bird hole' or the 'pilot sink'!

As an avid fan of the original Transformers movie, Noodle can mean nothing more to me than 'head' or 'face', when Cup say "Get your noodle out of my face", and fan knows the bit.
But to be on topic. I can see why those names are banned as a whole to fall under the blanket of generic filters. Maybe there should be a method of submitting things which are pop-culture references to have the filter make allowances for.
