I've decided to make a PvE warrior for PvP purposes and I found a nice Chaos axe in FoW the other day but its only +14% above 50% and I want to know does that 1% difference make any difference and if so how much damage would I be missing?

It won't be much difference in damage, for the price it will..

Almost no difference in damage but makes a lot of difference in trying to sell something like that.

the difference is small, but be sure to customize it to get an unconditional +20%.

Difference between 14^50 and 15^50 axe in pretty common situation:

Axe mastery 16
Strength 9
Customized 20%

Assumed, you attack against 60 armor target so you deal 100% damage from your base damage even after the armor check!

Min damage (15^50): 6 x 1.35 x 1.55 ~ 12.56
Max damage (15^50): 28 x 1.35 x 1.55 ~ 58.59

Min damage (14^50): 6 x 1.34 x 1.55 ~ 12.46
Max damage (14^50): 28 x 1.34 x 1.55 ~ 58.16

Difference in min damage will be 0.1 and in max damage 0.43

Practically it would mean max +1 damage more against 60 armor target. Hopefully I calculated it correct.

And it rounds down, I believe. I use a 14^50% hammer in GvG. You'll be fine.

Omg, you just gave your guild a lose with that 1 less damage hammer!! (If that really happen, and the opponent monk had 1 hp left over and healed up after that... Wow to that monk)

on topic: There are no difference for sword and axe, but hammer do deal 1 less damage from being 14%. Well, all these counting out of armor penetration and etc, although I doubt even with armor penetration it would matter that much. However, that 1 damage does stack up over time in the "energy vs damage" timeline.

the skill in which the tool is used is more important then the dmg done

PvP is suppose to be skill based so aslong as you know what you are doing a clean/max will be just as effective in almost all cases

If you're really going for it, every % can help. Just imagine you could have won if you had that 1% extra damage...

You don't need that 1% more damage, but having more is obviously better than having less. On a critical hit you'll probably lose out on ~1-2 dmg, and those happen fairly often. Nothing big, but why not have it? There are collectors out there that give perfect items.

Well even though it doesn't make much of difference in damage, people still buy and customize perfect weapons while many others just buy 14% weapons.
