Have you ever had a rare item fall just inches away from you then you died before you could grab it? I was doing the 1st mission in the desert for the 1st time when I aggroed all the minotaur’s by mistake (didn’t know they had large patrol areas) My henchies dropped leaving me a pile of minotaur’s to kill. I killed one as others killed me and a gold axe dropped I laid next to my lost axe as the mission failed prompted “your party has been defeated”. I just know that axe was a +20% sundering +30 Health +15% DMG> 50% I just know it. Just goes to show watch those patrols!

That's why if I'm in a mision with henchies, I make a grab for the gold ASAP.

It usualy happens in the deep when a chest spawns right next to the Leviathan.

Whats worse is if you are dead and Kannaxi drops a green for you :P

Last weekend, when the double-rare drops were in effect. Me and I Pwn U's team went chests running. Even though the drops were crap, i saw one person who died just as the chest pop-up a gold drop for him.

Once after a few players left while farming FoW, we decided to run for the next chest before leaving. Everyone else died except me, and when I reached the chest, I opened it, and right when the item flipped out, I got killed off by the mob around it. Was a gold hammer.

I once got a gold Zodiac Sword drop in The Deep in Room 1 in a different part of the room than the one I was in. The party wiped before I could retrieve it. >.<

i went to UW for chest runs i opened the chest and a MAX gold chaos req 9 was there but a something killed me instantly.. =(

FoW chest run. All party died, I was the last one to open the chest and not get a req.8 chaos axe. GG?

It has happened to me before, but it has also helped me.
Kurzick Chest runs during the most recent event--a guy opened the chest and died--it was a req 12 Gothic Sword. I don't know if he didn't notice the drop or thought that he wouldn't ever be rezzed, but he left. and I went and picked it up. I tried to message him and he had logged. Turned out to be a req 12 15^50 Gothic Sword.

Had this happen during the double event, lost a req 8 platinum blade, but it was more than made up for when running in raisu later one of my running mates died after opening a chest, he had a GPB drop for him. being the nice guy i am, i ran back and used my res sig to let him get it. He got totaly spiked before getting to it and just rage quitted when everyone else said they didn't have a res.

Suffice to say i wasted no time i scooping up that GPB. It was a great moment, 7 warriors all running into a huge mob after the one item.

2 black dyes... they both dropped at about the same time just as we got pulverized, i just run for it with all my might and right before i grab it something wands me for just enough to kill me :'( meanies!!!

Only once during the increased chance of key drops and rares from chest weekend. We went on a run only for some reason I thought we weren't going to actually run. First chest we saw was surrounded by a huge mob and they took out my team pretty quick. I managed to open the chest then bam! Died on front of some gold unid sin daggers. One guy lived and stood at a distance from the chest to see if the mobs would leave. THen he logged. Don't really care though, I don't even have an assassin.

I was doing Tahnaaki Temple with me and one other person (rest henchies) and a Black Dye dropped for me, I kept fighting to help out , but I got killed by the stupid explosion from the infected warriors.

Worst part about it was that the other person I was with wouldnt res me to pick it up, he waited and waited and waited till he could pick it up for himself, then he left , ingnored me and logged off.

During a chest run, when the someone lured extra mobs to the chest and couldn't retrieve my item because it was blocked..Req.8 GPB.

I was testing a solo smiting build on some undead, and overstayed my welcome just a tad. The only black dye that I've ever had dropped for me appeared. I swear I just sat there and stared blankly at the screen for about 2 minutes. Kept on moving the camera so I could see it around the "return your party to the outpost" button.

yeah kurz chest run last weekend like a few others here. Mine was a gold JUG, and those tiny three gold letters, I just couldn't find the damn thing! Huge mob, people running in and out, and I simply couldn't locate it. So I just had to wait for the run to end and everyone to leave so I could rez, and I got the (soon to be worthless) thing.....

Poor Abdul. He just missed those daggers. I have had a couple of those drops happen. One of the worst things was having a Shard drop for me back when they were pretty expensive and me dying before i could get too it.

Back when the IDS was first introduced I went on a skill cap/IDS run with a full pug party. We all capped and headed into the cave to kill imps, it was a pretty good team, everyone seemed pretty friendly. We got to the very last mob of imps and an IDS dropped for me just as I died. The party cleared the mob and all of them but one started camping the IDS waiting for it to time out, it was pretty pathetic to see the feeding frenzy. After a minute of me politely asking for a res (I knew at least a couple of them had hard res too) the lone guy not acting like a circling vulture rebirthed me and I ran and got my sword. Natually I thanked him but it was really pathetic to see how the others all reacted, calling him names for ressing me. One guy who took it very badly had me PM'ing him with "I'm Wielding an IDS" until I made his ignore list .
