Well, I finally got my collectors edition of prophecies through the mail today, I had already downloaded the client from the website 2 days before it arrived to save time, the download worked fine, the game loaded to the log-in screen, so i waited for my access key patiently through the mail.

I loaded it up and went through the general Access Key/Email fill in sheets and then when i clicked Confirm Account (or something along those lines, the program froze, it seems to have gone through though and I got my "Welcome To Guild Wars" Email.

This is where the problem began. I clicked the Log-In button, and the program just crashed, first thought that went through my head was "Maybe the client download was bugged, i'll uninstall this and reinstall from the disks i got.

When I was about to Uninstall I saw "Repair this installation". I thought "why not?" and clicked the icon.

The game told me to "Insert disk 2, which i did, then it proceeded to "stop responding" BIG Problem.

I then completely uninstalled the game and tried to reinstall it from the CDs, it went through the "Connecting To Arenanet / "Downloading" Phase and i try to boot it up... little hourglass shows next to my mousepointer then... nothing.

I checked the install location and it seems it only installed 3 files, so i redownloaded the client from the website, the same problem, only 3 files and the client won't run.

Sounds like it could be a couple things. From simple to difficult solutions, I see no apparent issues with your hardware specs.

- Virus software running (turn off virus protect temporarily during install)
- Malware on the system causing the machine to crash (Download many of the free malware detection/remover software available on the net and posted on these forums)
- Excessive Hard Drive Block Errors (run chk disk "error correction" under properties -> tools dialog)
- Registry issues (complicated process depending on where the errors are)
- Bad Hardware (run a free tool to diagnose, last ditch effort, could be a power supply issue also)

If you have PeerGuardian2 running in the backround, this will stop you logging onto Guild Wars, if so, diable PeerGuardian untill you have logged into Guild Wars. If the pc is just freezing, have a look in Event Viewer /Applications. ( Click start, control panel, performance and maintenace, event viewer, application, look for red crosses, exclamation marks) Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date.
Would DrWatson, the windows helper may shed some light if there is a hardware problem. (click start, run, type, drwatson32 ) To view the report double click on the entry.
