I just had an idea for a new NPC in guild halls, though it wouldn't have to be an NPC if they didn't want.

Basically, it is a Guild Messenger. Someone that you can leave a message with then your guild mates can go by and check. Think of it kind of like a bullitin board where you post a notice of an event, request a service, or post something for sale.

In order to keep some order, they could limit the number of messages to 5 per member, 10 per officer, and 20 for the leader. (numbers are just examples and can be changed as needed) If you are a regular member and have 5 messages and want to post a new one, you would first have to delete one of the others.

Sure the major things will be posted in the Announcement, and some will argue about guilds having a forum so this isn't needed. But this is for the convience of only having to go to the guild hall, and not having to minimize guild wars to bring up a website.

Doesn't make to much sense to have. Just ask over Guild chat. If theres no one on that can help you then the messenger wouldn't of helped you anyway.

I'd rather they allow anouncemensts to be longer first.

I'm not talking about only having it for asking for help. I'll give you a few example messages:

Message 1:
Hey all, I'll be out of town the next 5 days so I wont be there for GvG. See ya when I get back.

Message 2:
I have 512 wood, 250 Tanned hides and 300 dust if anyone needs some.

Message 3:
Hey all, I'm going to be doing Ring of Fire tomorrow night and could use help. Keep the time open for me please.

Message 4:
I've posted a new build on the guild forums, be sure to check it out.

This would mainly be for posting messages when other people arn't on line, or for on going messages (such as the materials available), etc. Of course if I need help now, and other people are online now, I would just use Guild Chat, but that is not what this is for.

I agree that announcements should be longer, but that is only for Guild Leaders and Officers, not everyone. And many of the example I posted wouldn't really go into the announcement anyways.

sorry, but its not hard to set up even a free forum and make your guild aware of it via announcements. Imagine if every guild in GW had just 4 messages of 20 characters long. How much more data and stress that would put on the GW servers.

Just use the Guild announcement function.

But a bulletin board.. surely just sticking the link to your forum and posting news on there is easier.

Excellent idea. Even if members were limited to one message, I'm sure it would be widely used.

But there are always ppl that didnt get it couldnt come or just not online at the moment.
It will be a lot better if we can use massage board plain these ahead and have everyone need that mission be there at that day and that time.

I would like it to be an alliance message board thou.

You could still say all this over guild chat. Also mega_jamie is has a point as well. Instead of haveing this just get a free forum on the internet that people can post this stuff on if you really feel they need to have another way to know other than you telling them. They can check that. It wouldn't take to long...

Just offer it over guild chat. If no ones on that needs it offer it again later when others are on.

I dont see why people wouldnt want this. I mean, sure, there are other means but this is very simple. Why would you not sign it? I'm sure something like this would be very easy to implement. Free forums are a but of an annoyance to set up, and its easier just to check out these messages in-game.

About offering things over guild chat, sure you could, but I find that most of the time not all of my guild is on, and there are many different time zones, so it would make it simpler to put it on the "messenger".

To limit it a bit though, I'd make it once message, a little smaller then the Announcement, per person.
