Hi All,
I have been playing this game for some time, and just got one of my W/Mes to the Temple Of The Primeval Kings.
Now for some unknown reason, everybody only wants barrage parties,MM,no one seems to want the poor old warrior.
I put up I was looking for party, as you do LFP,and some guy says "you`ll be waiting a long time",when I ask why he said cos Warriors die too quick here.

I was a bit gobsmaked,my reply was no not when played properly.
He went on to say go and find a ranger,or monk, anything but a warrior.
I`ve come back on to the same place ,only to find I`m the only warrior here at the moment, lots of people with lots of different characters ,but not another warrior.
I will admit this is the furthest I have got, with the game, but is this normallly what happens here ?.
By the way I`m in Euro dist 1 at the moment, wonder if it`s better on an international dist.
Any thoughts people??.

I don't hit tombs to much myself; but if that's the furthest you've gotten in the game I'll just say all tombs is for is farming; no mission or anything.

Dark, you will die fast and often there. Just the way it is......huge fire spikes and massive amounts of grasps. Sorry, it's not you, it's just that warriors even before the armor/absorb nerf were no better than a pet there.

Do what all smart farmers do: have a necro, a monk, a war, a ranger, an ele.....get the picture? You need to be versatile to match the needs of the farm run. Many farm runs have an abundance of one or two types of enemies and a lack of some others, so whatever class/build matches up well,.....that's what works best and fastest. And since farming is about efficiency, noone wants to mess around with something that won't help, and that might do more harm than good.

there is certain builds that work well there if played correctly so ppl generally stick to playing those builds

tbh i found tombs a waste of time, there is far eaiser and quicker ways of farming

with factions out, yes that is now true. But when TOPK was added, it was all the rage, and it was fun too. Plus Victo's Shield was bringing in well over 100k.

Still, it would be fun to go back and do, for nostalgic reasons, and not taking into account the point of the whole thing, just the fight was quite entertaining. Took strategy and teamwork. Sometimes just the challenge is reason enough.

I still miss it being the HoH and I would imagine that they want a 4 man farming group not a full group.I monked in full group and the Warrior we had did a great jop.

Darkcraft, since no-one else has mentioned this, and it's unclear from your post whether you understand this or not -

Tomb of the Primeval Kings is optional. To progress in the game, you need to finish the Dragon's Lair mission directly south of it, which will then deposit you in Droknar's Forge. That is why virtually everyone you'll find in ToPK is doing farming runs as opposed to "balanced" playthroughs. There's still the occasional group being formed, though - I suggest playing at a different time of day.

The problem with running a warrior in Tombs is that the monsters use a little monster-only skill called Fingers of Chaos, which tends to wipe through melee characters very quickly (not to mention the fact that the mobs are pretty tough in their own right).

WARRIORS ARE NOT INEFFECTIVE IN TOMBS

People are just too stupid to think of their own builds. When Tombs first was turned into a PvE joint, nobody knew how to do it. There were people doing the most outrageous sht in there. My guild was creative enough to make a build with 3 warriors, 3 monks, and 2 rangers. We used the warriors as damaging body blockers, by forming a line between the dozens of ramps and bridges to keep our other players from being attacked. The 3 monks were WoH, Boon Prot, and Infuser. Finally, each ranger had an array of spike shots like dual and savage, and one had Melandru's Arrows and the other had Apply Poison, for the purpose of causing equal degen upon every target by simply tabbing through and attacking each once, using savage shots to interrupt the wurms and terrorwebs and such. For the build to work, we all worked together over teamspeak and sped through several times within only a couple hours. It took all our attention to fullfill each player's job within the group.

Buttom line is that people use whatever is easiest and takes the smallest amount of attention and skill.

To be honest, you just aren't ready for Tombs. Nothing you have done at this point in the game will compare with the UW... Not only will you die almost instantly simply from inexperience, but even the best of Warriors can't last long there.

Go on with your game, and once you have finished it and really want to do tombs, I suggest making a ranger and progress it through the game and only then may you have a chance at being successful at topk.

Tombs is still my favorite spot to just play the game, as it always presents a challenge to a balanced team. It is, however, in the wrong spot on the Tyrian map as we see alot of people wandering in just after ascending.

Best thing I can say to you on this is, 'You're not in the desert anymore.'.

Continue on with Dragon's Lair, cap Glad's Defense while you're there. get the highest grade armor for your tank if you don't have it already, familiarize yourself with stances fully, finish your 2 15-point attribute quests, then come on back to Tombs if you think you could enjoy a couple of hours of pain. You may even come away with a nice toy, compliments of Victo.

My favorite build for Tombs is a couple of good stance tanks, couple of healing monks, and either 4 Ele's of varying elements or 3 Ele's and a Blood Spike/Battery Nec. Great fun!

Honestly, I can't believe that they're running that same old b/p in there after so long. If only the grasps would go to school and learn Deflect Arrows!.

Edit: By the way, it wouldn't hurt to just jump in there by yourself, aggro the first mob and run back to Acolyte Chigo, getting him involved in the fight, just to see what he uses to defend himself in there.

Damn Ozric you a writer? Heh, it captivated even me.

To the OP... its my experience that players in farming areas are quite unwilling to test out new builds. They find some cookie cutter that is easy to run and relatively fast. I'm not saying that you can't find a different build just you will be looking for awhile usually. Your best bet is to make some friends or find a guild that likes to test new builds out in different places, or at least is willing to try (despite liking or disliking).

I used to 2 man UW with a R/Mo and E/Mo build. Could do everything a 55/SS duo could. However, it was slower but meh. It was challenging and fun and you actually feel like you earned the ecto

Now a days ToPK isn't worth the hour and a half it takes to go through it with a PUG group to *maybe* get a 30k axe.

As Ozric said (btw, your post was very well written...props) it's a great CHALLENGE with a balanced group. But it's not really the best/funnest/smartest place to farm. Not to mention its hard to find a balanced group in there (I believe, haven't been in there for ages).

I used to do it with my B/P, but it just isn't worth it anymore. Ecto prices are low, victos stuff is MUCH lower, and it doesn't really give you a great gold income compaired to how long it takes. Last tombs run I did I got around 5k in an hour and a half. I can make more than that in less than an hour with a 55 monk, or I could do FoW solo with my war in less time with just as more profit and better chests if I wanted a challenge.

You have to do Dragons Lair Mission before you can even get to the Tomps as it is part of your Ascention after you beat.Sorry I was thinking PvP.He already has a Ranger anyway.

No you don't have to do the Dragon's Lair to access tombs. You just have to beat the doppleganger and have that mission available not completed. Just go to the mission and look for the Tombs zone and enter.

Well Thanks people for the quick replies .
It`s so nice to get input like this,....now I know!,what to look out for.

I will get the Glads defence Ozric,so thanks for that, and paperfly thanks for telling me about the mission,I almost missed it,as someone said, "it is a bit close to glints lair".
One other thing I would like to say,and that is since buying this game, and Factions,I cant stop playing it,my wife poor soul has become a PC widow, and there is never enough hours in the day,so it seems.

As for characters,I do have a few on the go,and catching up fast to my Warrior.
Well Thanks Again People, and may all you`re adventuring be profitable.
