Alot of people seemed to love the druid from diablo 2 so here is my blatant theft of the idea made simple for GW build teams.

armor rate 70 (like the ranger)

skills

lycanthropy
beast mastery (yay we have this one already)
elemental mastery (not an ele)
beast fighting

Lycanthropy: allows the "Guy" to change shape
suggested shapes: Wolf, Bear, Moa
added points increase duration of change and amount of damage done

beast mastery: same as ranger skill but allows the charm of more then one animal (+1 animal per 5 lvls) this allows for pack hunting

ele mastery: not like the elementalist. adds to defence from elements also allows for things like "fire claws" and such

beast fighting: neat beast based attack like feral bite, savage claw etc

weapon: none hand to hand based as it keeps "guy" in another form. this also gives it a weakness

Shape shifting. If your refering to the Dervish. Technically the Dervish can become avatars. That is completely different to shape shifting. Avatars are endowed with the power of their god(s).

How on earth you could think ANet would take an idea from a game that is rubbish is beyond me. However, thats just my opinion.

no offense but this is quite retarded. Why would u (in the GW Universe) turn from a lvl 20 character with 8 skill slots to a lvl 20 animal with what..3 skills that dont add anything to the overal experience and are just another thing to look at and say wow...now THAT is pointless.

I don't see anything run with shape shifting.. (depend on what cost/req you make of it) ... it help add some more strategy, catching other off guard as you change from one type (caster) to another (melee), and visa versa.

Druid is a popular class... and not just from D2. Tolkien wrote of a Brown Mage that can transform to a giant Bear in his book "The Hobbit". So stop refering druid as if D2 invent them.

ok first of I prefer the brown mage idea. and the post was more a kick in the pants to the poster who has the tyranonmygoditsalongnameathrope post. I was trying to show how short and sweet (though not well thought) an idea can be.

Shapeshifting in the game would be great and I rethought some of the things I had written originally. Again the first post was more in fun then anything else.

armor (max) 55
shape shift: for everypoint in SS (or we can call it lycanthropy) you add +1 to armor so a lvl 20 has +20 (75 ac) while shifted. also it adds to the time shifted. Anet would be able to figure a fair time better then I.

*Pack master: similar to beast master, but it allows for the capture of more then one pet. to balance the BM attack skills would not work as there are to many pets to command. Four pets doing call to haste might not be bad but brutal maul.... For every 5 lvls you can bring a new member into the pack. So at lvl 20 you have 5 pets. I would also recomend a lvl cap for pets if you get more of them. say 15.

Rage: Like crys/stances but it effects only animals and other lycanthropes. this adds bonuses to other rangers pets. Nothing god like, just short time speed bonus or attack bonus.

Fury: Special lycanthrope attacks, with claw and bite.

the animal that you shift into would be by armor. Wolfs armor you become a wolf. Bear armor yout get to be a bear. Man thats a hard concept.

The more I think about it, the more I'm grooving on the gladiator idea (pit fighters who lend their bodies to animal gods for increased attack capabilities) I posted back in the furry thread. I wouldn't want to see a toggle or a long duration transformation - that's been done, as has fighter/mage hybrids which never work.* The druid may be many people's favorite class from D2, but it was also by far the weakest (with the exception of the Paladin, who had precisely two good skills).

I'm thinking more of a pure fighter who temporarily transforms for very short attack bursts, i.e. shapeshift to wolf, lay the smack down for ten seconds or so, shapeshift back. Maybe call them "form" skills and tie them in with the Assassin's lead/offhand/dual skills, just to make /D and /A more viable secondaries.

*At least, in the past. With GW's attribute system there's actually a chance the two tracks can be separated enough that both will not need to be nerfed for balance.
