You need to be in Mineral Springs, thats the only place the sword will drop.

Second I don't think that I ever took zero damage but I was able to solo it.
You just need to heal a little bit more

The Quide was made before the update where - dmg applied for only phy dmg
before that update most warriors had lost -6 or 7 dmg from every attack used on them
Imp deals lets say 20dmg
your armor reduces the dmg for 6
you get 14 dmg without any using skills

IDS farm sucks now. There are 2 places where you cant sprint throug if groups of heretics spawn there or the elemtalist boss who will slow you to death.
And not to forget: You can restart when those Avicara-chickens spawn inside the ice imps. Those guys are just a pain in the ass... I did 5 runs in a row when i could just return when i arrived... Last but not least the ice golems and the Trolls spawning in the ice imps group will kill you by rust or interupting... i will continue, but when i have my ids, NEVER do this run again ^^

White_Chaos is correct, before the July 19th update, absorption from e.g. knight's boots globally stacked with a superior absorption rune and a -2 in stance shield, giving a warrior a total of -7 to each damage and therefore made warriors taking no damage at all from the ice imps.

However, this behaviour has been changed - absorption is now vs physical damage only, and knights armor absorption isn't calculated globally any more.

lets see this is the solo build i used bak in december...

W/Me
Axe or Sword

Eviserate
Executioners
penetrating chop
Watch Yourself
Dolyak Signet
Elemental Resistance
Healing Signet
Sprint

basically you have to know the mobs and ninja your way to the enterance of the caves in the east of mineral springs.

I don't think this build works anymore because they added ice golems that do rust on you so you die from not being able to heal yourself... back when i did it there was a glitch and it spawned lvl 10 ice golems .... i don't think the solo build works anymore.

First, observe the patrolling routine of the Mob, sometimes the Golem is far from you but he can walk to a near point. Them hit sprint before agrooing the mob and Dolyak and Elemental Resistance as soon as Mind Freeze lands, hit healing signet for full health before he can cast rust on you. You´ll be suffering low damage with Dolyak and Elemental Up, slowly walk towards the golem. With all the hits you´re suffering now you should stock up some adrenaline for Watch Yourself or even Defy Pain Together, hit Healing signet again with all your defences up, even with rust on you, because you have a lot of armor now to wait for 6 seconds to Healing Signet to activate. Keep going towards the Golem and starts the atack, a fiery sword should help because Siege Ice Golem takes double damage from it. As you atack you gain adrenaline to keep watch yourself and defy pain up with dolyak and elemental resistance, healing as needed, as soon the Siege Ice Golem dies and only Ice Imps remains, you should be fine.

Never forget to bring a bow (long or flat bow), to split the mobs and change their patrolling behaviour.

It takes some pratice and training to master the solo W/Me build, a easier build is W/Mo as seen in:

http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/W/Mo_Ic...n_Sword_Farmer

Good luck!

11+1 strenth Don´t forget you need 13 on strength for 100 AL Sentinel Armor. Otherwise it´ll have only 80AL.

You might want to consider Expel Hexes and Mantra of Frost. With Mantra of Frost you have enough energy to power Shatter Hex if you don't want to blow your elite on Expel Hexes. With both Expel Hexas AND Shatter Hex, well you won't have to worry about Rust or Mind Freeze, but you will have to get creative around Maelstrom.

Actually, with Mantra of Frost you could probably power a lot of attacks and spells... cyclone axe + triple chop all day long for instance. The regular attacks from the imps, golems and azure shadows all strike for cold damage and yield energy.

I've never been fond with w/me's doing this run (even when IDS's first came out), but I enjoy partying with them the most because I like it when they ask me what build I'm using when I outlast them or perform better. Also, because they just think they're better. Even before the previous updates I've always managed to outlast/out-perform all the w/me I've partied with (I'll gladly take a challenge if any w/me wants prove me wrong ).

I'll say this (not to flame, but informatively), w/me usually think they're better because they have elemental resistance, when in fact that is their biggest weak point. I'll make this clear, elemental resistance gives negative armor against physical atks, which means any troll is their worst nightmare (don't forget that they'll interrupt heal sig). Along side with that, ele resist doesnt reduce enough dmg for you to hardly ever use heal sig. In other words, w/me generally use heal sig as common as they would use defy pain, which cuts up time to kill an imp. That leads to my other point, when using heal sig so commonly, you lose more life since heal sig gives -40 armor while using it. And because w/me use heal sig so much, golems are also their worst nightmares. A lot of weaknesses.

On the other hand, the only weakness I've found for w/mo's is the distance you have to walk to the next imp. Usually when you aggro, the imps run at you not packed together but are distant from eachother. For w/mo's to not have the extra dmg reduction from ele resist, this is their biggest weak point. But this is easily avoided by pulling them, the farther you pull, the tighter the imps get and the less walking and dmg you would take (if you were to solo). Other than that, w/mo are immune against trolls and golems since your life should pretty much be above 90% at all times, thanks to the enchantments.

Also, if you encounter a bad spawn with Hyl Thunderwing, just run pass them and if you get hit with iron mist.......don't be dumb and start atking out of frustration. That's how you die. Just constantly use heal sig and if watch yourself or defy charges up, use it. Then sprint away when iron mist wears off.

Oh, and dont forget to watch out when the avicara wise use ineptitude. Pay attention and stop atking when they use it and let it wear off before you atk again, most warriors just keep atking and dont know what hit them when they die. Also, there is a way to glitch the avicaras if they were to spawn with the imps. I'm too lazy to post some pictures of it, but contact me in game if you want to see it done.

All in all i recommend the build seen on guildwiki
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/W/Mo_Ic...n_Sword_Farmer

it works great as long as there is no group of avicaras standing too close to the imps. The main principe is, just to pull groups of the imps and not fight all of them. Then you even wont die if there are one or two ice golems.

A problem is surely the drop rate. I got my IDS today in the maybe 20th run. I think it's still worth farming, but only for yourself and not to sell it, because its just too much work.

galrath
desperation
defy pain
watch y
dolyaks
ele resistence
heal sig
sprint

plate armor, +5 arm zealous sword (for mixed phys and ele damage with trolls)
+7 vs ele zealous against only ele damage.

Solo 55 Monk FTW~Getting there is no problem and once you learn how to keep imps at a distance they drop ultra fast. Even birds mixed in with imps are no problem...for those uber 55's However, agreed, drop rate is awful, I only do these runs to get IDS's for my friends

Oh ya, I can also do the warrior run, but, IMHO, 55 monk is faster and less chance of dying Good Luck
