Hey I have a monk. So far I use him to store all of my items (mule char). So I was thinking about deleting him and making a Rit. I use to think that Ritualist were a weaker version of Monk and a Assasin were a weaker version of Warrior. So can anyone tell me whats so great about being a Ritualist and whats so great about being a monk?

no class is objectivly "weaker" than another, but they do have differant uses.

you won't use a rit to heal like a monk, or protect like one. Just like asn are not "weaker" than a warrior but rather are based on being able to hit and run while letting conditions + the light physical dmg kill other people over time

I feel compelled to chine in on this, having made a Rt myself recently and being a long-time monk player.

Basically what I have noticed so far is that all of the really cool Rt builds are constructed around a very powerful Elite skill: Ritual Lord, Attuned Was Songkai, or something else. Unfortunately, these elite skills come pretty late in the game.

If you do decide to make a Rt, don't be discouraged by mediocre results early on. For a full healing Retoration Rt, Attuned Was Songkai makes all the difference. Ditto for the Spirit Spammer...without Ritual Lord you haven't seen what the Rt can really do.

So stick with it, and you'll probably be pleasantly surprised.

Monks:

Excellent individual healing
ok group healing
Best rezes in the game (Resurrection Chant, Rebirth, etc.)
Excellent condition removals
Good hex removals
Good vs Undead
okay party defense
Excellent individual defenses

Ritualists:

ok individual healing
great party healing
Second best rezes in the game (Flesh of My Flesh, Restoration, etc.)
Good condition removals
Good energy management
Great party defenses
okay individual defenses
No enchantment stripping worries
Very versatile (even better depending on secondary profession)

Hope this helps.

saying a ritualist is not as good a protector IMO is not a true statement.

Shelter + displacement = 60% less monk utilization
A ritualist can heal ok but nothing extremly strong to single target.
The power of a ritualist in its protection abilities is in the way it can manipulate the dmg taken.

I put the ritualist right up with the ranger and necromancer for versatility.

Their downfall is in character appearance and dance style.lol

We could so do without the showtune dance on males and I dont know what to call the dance of the female.

Ya, people mostly pick Rits for their protection capabilities, if you want to heal, play a monk.

My rit is usually restoration, there's a fantastic ritual you can get called Preservation which heals one party member for x...120 health every 4 seconds. But with a rit you also have the potential to go offensive...that is what turned me off monks....their smiting skills just seemed to lack a bit. The rit offensive skills are good if I am doing quests on my own with/without henchies. I don't think a rit makes a bad healer at all, I'm glad they're slowly becoming more recognised as monk replacements...monks can be real gits from my experience...but they're not the only ones who can heal.

btw i love the male rit dance =) Monks are good and very sought after. Male Ritualist dance looks okay, but only with the spirits clapping to the beat. Alone, the male ritualist doesn't look very good.

I like the Tai-chi dance that the monks do.
