I'm a level 6 Warrior in pre-searing hoping to make some gold off dye farming, as well as my bear charming service. I don't know where to go to farm dyes though.

It's all random anyway! So it doesn't really matter where you kill stuff!

I heard the Catacombs may be a good place for farming dye in pre-sear, though I haven't really tried myself, so take it with a grain of salt. As for bear charming, you will need someone else to help you, b/c bears can interrupt your charm. Basically you need someone else to lure the bear outside your agro circle, so that it cannot use the break charm skill.

From my own experience, I found that although dyes tend to drop anywhere in Pre, I preferred the Catacombs. I would just go down to where all the skeletons are and kill them all. I would end up getting a dye per run on average.

A question not directly related: Can you access your guild hall from pre-searing? I guess not, but it's been so long ago that I've created my last Tyrian character.

Once upon a time there was a person (that would be me), who knew alot about Guild Wars and was teaching the game to someone new. This new person decided to be a mesmer just because they look cool, not because she liked what they do. then this person took necromancer as secondary. As you may or may not know, there is a quest far into the catacombs that requres you to kill 5 crypt fiends. The new person kills the first one, and gets their first ever dye, a yellow one. Then I congratulated this person and hoped that they would get more. After they killed 2 more (3 overall), a red dye dropped. I laughed and said (in sarcasm {i was getting jealous by this time because I get all crap drops no matter where}), 'I'd laugh if the last one drops a black dye!' Guess what? This person kills the last one and a black dye drops. As a player who has played about 500 hours(at the time of this event, it is now way more), I had never gotten a black dye. I yelled out in anger (I've waited 500 hours and this person gets one in 20 mins...*$&%#(@*$)@*) and well... this person lived happily ever after.

Who says fairytales don't come true? Seriously though, I find the catacombs are a good place to look.

Are there any particularly good places in the Factions side? I don't have Prophecies yet.

You used to be able to, due to a bug, which ANet promptly fixed. This did result in some post-sear items being transferred to pre-sear, however.

That sucks. Well, thank you all for the tips. I think I'll try farming in the catacombs.
