Lesson 1 - Meditation of the Reaper
Cebe
Ok...I have played the Imperial Sanctum mission so many times now, and I enjoy it, so occaisonally I will go over there to see if anyone needs help...
There is one thins about the people playing this mission which really gets on my nerves...that is, the lack of knowledge about Shiro's skill, Meditation of the Reaper. I don't know if I'm preaching to the converted on this forum but I hope that some players may read this and learn something.
=====
Meditation of the Reaper
Skill. For 30 Seconds, Shiro meditates and absorbs the next 700 damage. When this skill ends, Shiro steals 20 health from all foes for each second this skill was active.
=====
The recurring problem with people fighting Shiro is that they don't kill him fast enough. Read it... You have 2 choices:
Either:
1. Everyone runs away for 30 seconds until he comes out of it. FAR away.
or
2. You deal him his 700 damage VERY quickly, if he is only meditating for 5 seconds, that's 100 health he will steal from everyone. Guildwiki suggests elementalists use an echoed Celestial Storm on him to bring him out fast.
=====
Disclaimer:
Sorry if people already know this, but from my experience it seems a lot of people really don't. Please feel free to correct me if I have made a mistake somewhere....this isn't a rant, I was only trying to inform a few people on this devastating skill.

Massive mea culpa here - I was one of the zillions of misguided fools who thought Meditations was a stance. Oh, the tens of minutes I spent ordering Warriors to add Wild Blow to their lineup!
I'm positively embarrassed.

Shiro does use a stance, Riposting Shadows. "Stance. For 20 seconds, Shiro shadow steps to the next foe that attacks him and attempts a return attack. If this attack hits, Riposting Shadows is renewed."
Common misunderstanding regarding the Meditation seems to be that all the damage you cause to him during the meditation, gets stolen when it ends. I've had a bunch of teams saying that if he uses meditation, everyone must stop attacking him. Which is dumb. Very dumb. Extremely dumb.

Gale worked just fine for me...

Once Shiro enters Meditation you can't break it with anything except through doing 700 points of damage. It's a *skill*.
However, 700 damage isn't that much, not with 8 people pounding on him with all they've got, and him without any defence except his armor.
Keep Shiro blinded so he can't heal himself, kill the Shiro'ken as quickly as you can (to bring the banished guys back), and make sure everyone smacks Shiro with all they've got whenever he enters Meditation, and he'll go down quick enough.

An alternative would be to take Diversion and keep using that on him, then he can't use his skill.
some guy
life stealing skills or a vamperic weapon upgrade dosen't coutn as damage, so you can keep on damaging him while he's in the meditation

...But that's the point, you want to do as much damage as possible while he's using the skill. Ending it fast is the single safest way of dealing with it.

I used wild blow and it ended? As soon as i used it, i took 20 dmg from the stance. WTF?
Avarre
Except it's a skill, not a stance.
falling demon
knockdowns remove it, i used shove [E] and it removed it

I have tested Shove, Shock and Gale against Shiro on 1 vs 1 so no-one else would damage him (except Mhenlo). Knockdowns will not end Meditation of the Reaper.

It actually only takes 500 damage to end Meditation, not 700. But it steals 620 health from each nearby person when it ends, assuming it ran full course.
It has a range of about 2/3 compass range and recharges every 60 seconds.
I don't think it can be ended other than dealing 500 damage, or waiting it out.

As a recent thread I started similarly came to conclude: it's most unfortunate that they made the battle with Shiro gimmicky, requiring exactly one certain build to survive him.

(I was basing my original post on GuildWiki...which is generally kept up-to-date, to my knowledge)

Re-read your first link.
I concur with GWiki, as verified with a Soul Barbs + WW combo.
Plus, the skill icon when you are actually under Meditation, says 500 not 700.

I had a peek at GuildWiki's discussion of the skill and it seems that while KD did work, it doesn't any more because KD made him too easy. So just do 500 damage (even though it says 700 in places) as quickly as possible when he activates it. Or run a long way away.
lennymon
while wild blow does not end his meditation, it does however end his stance (riposting shadows) and if your warrior is build correctly it'll do a significant amount of damage towards ending meditation.
Spirit Of Azrael
Its not hard to end meditation. SoS+CA+CS = GG Shiro
Storm Of Swords, Celestial Attackers and Celestial storm for the clueless.

God...once some idiot necro went around scamming people in sanctum, asking for 1k and he'll solo shiro...then when he started the mission, he asked everyone to tank him whilst he casts SS on him...man, the amount of flames he got, good thing no-one paid him upfront.

Storm Of Swords, Celestial Attackers and Celestial storm for the clueless. ^^ QFT!! All you need is the Celestial skills.
And btw, to clear it up... YES wild blow is very useful vs shiro. Shiro uses TWO stances. Battle Scars, which he heals himself equal to teh damage of each high dmg hit he receives AND Riposting Shadows. Constantly ending Battle Scars is incredibly helpful when trying to dish out lots of dmg to Shiro. Riposting Shadows is a bit harder to end since he will be teleporting all over the place, but if it can be ended, all the better!

he also has another stance called impossible odds cant remember what it does though
Carinae
Impossible Odds is a skill, not a stance.

Skill. For the next 10 seconds, Shiro's attacks double strike and hit each nearby foe. Additionally, Impossible Odds transfers ALL conditions from Shiro to EACH nearby player, AND ALSO removes one hex.
This is more of a threat than Meditation IMHO.

Negative. Not by itself, at least. At the bottom of a hex stack, sure.
As I said, it removes a hex. And Shiro knows this fact...and uses it often just to remove hexes. You might get 50-100hp off it, but still not worth it, unless its deeply burried.
Shiro also has half-hex and half-condition duration.....

Yeah, that's probably the best party to take. Get a pile of Warriors and Celestial Attackers on him, then Storm of Swords him into oblivion...
Unfortunately, it appears that heroes don't get Celestial Skills, so you can't use Zenmai as a source of Celestial Attackers...
