Here is my latest. It's the contest entry for Sectus' mesmer.
Sketch:
Final:
Took me 45 minutes to sketch it, but a massive amount of hours to color/paint it in PS. Ahh, I can't wait till I get a tablet, doing this with a mouse is such a pain!

Nice digitalization... the cloth and texture is just amazine... even more so than your pencil work. I can never achieve this level of artistry... Make me jealous. (tip me if you win...)
And can't believe you did it in mouse.... do you have a death wish? Please... get a tablet...get a tablet... get a tablet..

Your ability to texture clothes is insane. Great job.

Thanks, man. It's funny, I think we both appreciate each other's work about the same. You're much better at the speed-drawing, improvisation, and imaginative styles. I almost entirely need references for my work. As far as the textures go, that was kind of a new thing for me. Well, ok, this whole thing was. The skirt was made using a flower texture I found online, but I altered the color to match the shading I had already done, and simply faded it into the shades and highlights that were there. The lace on her arms and the marble-ish texture on her boots were textures I made by messing around with the Render->Clouds Filter. Turned out pretty nice, I thought. The rest, like the warthog's skin, was completely hand colored. Didn't take as long as you would think. I think most of the time was taken up trying to perfect small details (damn perfectionist crap), like the swirly designs on the hands. I'm still not happy with those, but I had to stop sometime. Honestly, I had the most fun coloring the warthog. I loved being able to get away with some 'artistic license' with the texture and general chaotic uglyness of it's skin. It's the details that entrap me and cause me to waste too much time 'perfecting' them. Overall I had a lot of fun making this, and I'm actually in the middle of another piece similar to this (Ulivious' warrior), which I think should turn out pretty nice. Thanks again for the comments, AJ, Seban Anu, and others! It encourages me to keep on keepin' on, despite the amount of time it takes away from actually playing this fine game! kenichiukiya
Gosh i'm one jealous guy >.<
actionjack and arcanemacabre, i like both your works a lot. and Gj on Sanra's pic there arcane, i think you're gonna win this straight lol. i'm such a noob in drawing compared to u guys. Anyways hope i can learn from u guys in the future cuz i just started to hv some interest in drawing and stuff, with no experience in the past. gonna get meself photoshop very soon and i can start learning (i'm only drawing on papers with a pencil now without any CG help lol) >.< http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10044012 drop by my thread sometime and give comments pls ^.^ I'd be grateful if u can give some pointers Djinn Effer
Nice picture. Another easy way to make textures like that is by making a brush with the design on it: What you do is open a new window, pretty big.. Make a really big ornate design of whatever you'd like. Don't give too much incredible attention to detail, cause when you're done you'll resize it much smaller (the size you actually want it) and define it as a brush. You can also just download some brushes for stuff like the boot texture, I think you could google grunge brushes and you might find it. But yeah, very nice.
Theres two things I noticed that could be improved: Her hands, not sure what.. Just something about them. The warthog's hair seems too.. clumped it needs more randomness to it. (looks like its in 3 big clumps of solid.. hair wadds) These may help you: http://67.15.36.49/team/tutorials/2d...der_fur_01.asp http://67.15.36.49/team/Tutorials/pa...inghair_01.asp http://67.15.36.49/team/tutorials/2dhair/2dhair.asp http://67.15.36.49/team/Tutorials/be...athis_hair.asp For the most part, what I think you need to do is maybe smudge that hair a little, then keep adding hair over it, make the layers between the larger clumps and it'd look more natural. Very nice picture though, maybe make a background too? It usually sets off a picture more than you'd think. ^^ arcanemacabre
Just want to start out by saying, thank you Djinn for your kind words and criticism. Exactly what I'm looking for, here!

But, since it's so close, there wasn't much tweaking I could do, so I wrote it off as 'fine'. Her left hand is where my perspective issues came in. I knew it had to be bigger than her other hand since it's in the foreground, but I didn't know how big. The angle also threw me off. I did the best I could, at least until I get better.
The Warthog's fur, well all that was intentional because that's how it looks in the game. It actually is three large clumps of hair. Go check it out yourself. I checked out a multitude of tutorials, trust me, so i think I got it looking pretty good, considering. I agree it looks a little weird being three large clumps, but that's how it's supposed to look. I tried not to venture too far from the in-game models.

I should've made a background, and I agree how much better a pic looks with a background. I was just a bit discouraged with how long it took me to do this as-is, especially with a mouse, that I felt a background would take even longer. So I just decided to slap her on a screenshot for a final wallpaper version, and it looked decent.
This print version (which I have a full-size 600dpi version of it) is if he wants to take it down to Kinko's and get a nice poster to put on his wall. Just a showcase of his favorite character. Again, thanks for the comments! I'd love to see some of your work (aside from the concept armor thread). Do you use this style? Morgarath
OMG thats so amazing...i have never seen anyhting better than that....honestly you have talent...otherwise wifes necro seems to have to have a little to much shading but other than that your drawings are perfect..congrats!!!
