Titans: New Skill To Summon Titans
freekedoutfish
CREATE A NEW SKILL TO SUMMON TITANS OF VARIED ELEMENTS AND STRENGTHS.
[Small titans] two summoned at once, lvl18-20, 20 engy, 60 sec recharge.
[Medium titans] only one per time, lvl20-24, 25 energy, 60 sec recharge.
[Ooba titans] only one per time, lvl24-28, 30 energy, 120 sec recharg (and possibly break down into two small titans when killed or die).
Each would last a given time. Longer depending on size and lvl.
Only able to aquire after you complete Titan quets. Unlocked at skill trader. Adds insentive to complete.
Titan summoning skills would only be used by elementals, as they are born of earth, fire, ice and..... plant. So perfect combination, kinda.
Other professions would also get really powerfull titan skills when Titan quests are complete, but not summoning skills. Unlocked at skill trader. Also to add insentive to complete.
When unlocked, could add a new skill type to the skill list called "Titan summoning" and then list them underneath when bought.
Or when unlocked, they would go into the corrisponding element section when bought.
I.E:
Fire titans under fire.
Earth titans under earth.
Ice titans under water.
Not sure about plant!
Obviously these would be very powerfull skills as titans are very strong. Which is you can only unlock them after completing the relatively hard Titan quests.
As mentioned, it adds insentive to play them. As no one does.
The long recharge and energy demand I suggested, is justified because the titans would be so strong and you dont want an elemental being over-powered by summoning one every 20 seconds.
You would also need the other typical skills to heal them if need be, but to use titans would have big energy demands and energy management. They would maybes have side effects, like drainingg health when cast or slowing your attack speed or similar.
But its just an idea.

Meep - Could be easilly exploited - how about we just get a nice emote? Kill 1 titans and you can run around town burning if you want to?

I don't know about Titans, Emps maybe....but not Titans.
Apocrypha
And the PvP characters? gotta balance it out for them. An emote would be nice, summoning titan's is a bit much.
DeathandtheHealing
we already have necromancers
this would further inbalance the game
the developers want to stay way from this, why do you think they kill my nolani wnad *cry* let alone give u a special skill that lets u summon a great being lol
that slike saying fissure armor should make u invicible because it takes you hundreds of game hours to get
no.

Necro deals with undead and is from Everquest. Rit is more is a shaman from wow. Summoners are in Tales of and FF. I am expecting a flame response and hate pms from ignorant GW fanboys now, who fail to realize every class in GW is a version of another game's, concerning the above statements. I just hope they spell correctly this time. Having implike summons that do ranged elemental damage and a melee like the ranger pets which do melee element damage, along with some skills which behave like the beast mastery ones, would work if balanced properly.
Touch Ranger imbalances the PVP game (any one doubting so should play some Kurzick side battles, luxons like to send 4-8 touchies), so adding elemental summons would not be a major imbalance. If ANet balanced this idea and lvl of the things, this would fit in either to the Rit as an elite skill for each element, or in a future release for a summoner or warlock class. An alternative Anet could do is change up the Ele's current 5 attributes, say change the attritbute to energy storage(increases energy and reduces duration of exhaustion), area of effect spells (metoer shower, firestorm, etc), focused spells(flare, lightning strike, obsidian flame, etc), elemental summoning(beastmastery type skills and a few summons limited to only one summon active and health degen on it, plus -1 E regen on the caster), and support spells (blind, knockdowns, frozen burst, slowdowns, wards, and such). Any way implemented, my W tank, nuker/airspiker, barrage R, Necro MM, or hit and run A could defeat it, I am not afraid of the change. MMs should not feel insecure, they have nothing to fear due to the fact nothing can replace a lvl 26-28 Flesh Golem and 9 fiends at your side.
There was actually a few similar topics:

Ian Savage, unless I am totally off on the name and I apologize if so, had a Summoner profession which does the summoning idea. There are also a couple of Warlock threads using demons instead of elementals which are similarly done as well. Someone posted something similar in one of the fix-the-ele threads also. Think I might add the ele change concept there as food for thought.
Any ways that is the take of a C++ programmer. As long as it is implemented right, it would be a breath of fresh air in the touch ranger infested atmosphere. It could even make Ritualists slightly useful in PVP.

How can you say Guild Wars characters are from previous games?
Warrior - Medieval Times, not from other games. From History
Necro - From people who practiced raising the dead and other evil crap. Not from other games.
I'm to lazy to go over everything cause I don't need to, for you to say these come from other games is just dumb. They are ideas based on History and stories.
About spelling and what not, what does attritbute mean? If you want to complain about spelling check yours. I don't rly kare bout mhine.

And who claimed they were unique to this game?
What you're suggesting is basically another class, for another expansion. Why modify all the current classes so they can do a few other things instead of adding another class which you could use as a secondary if you really wanted those things. Want to be a summoner Ele? make a S/E or E/S when the time comes, it's not here yet, don't make the ele into a summoner so we have E/N which summons minions and summons and let's lose fireballs everywhere.
Ian Savage
Wow, i feel honored for the mention. Summoner is a common idea in RPGs, for a good solid 3 reasons.
1) It's Freaking Awesome
2) There are historical roots
3) They're relativly unique.
A summoner Prof would be great, but so would the idea of some kind of reward for the titan quests. either a title, or an emote, something to say--"Hey! I rock! I finished all the Titan Quests! Did I mention that I rock!"
Summoner profession is off topic here, but It's another good idea.

too overpowered but, let's make it that all your skills are disabled for 120 seconds...

ALL YOUR SKILLS DISABLED FOR 120 SECONDS?
that is FTL.
that is FTL.
Dougal Kronik
Instead of disabled - how about you use all your energy and have total exhaustion.

Undead are cool and all but the whole looking like an emo thing is lame. Fix the necros!! I want to see a necro in old rotting robes like the smoke phantom and not with the lame hair cuts they have. Let em be bald at least instead of the punk look.

Ok so the "thats just a stupid idea" was slightly harsh! But anyway!
As I said, my suggestion wasnt only that elementals would unlock a super powerfull titan skill once the titan quests were complete.
I suggested that the other processions would be rewarded with similar, strong abilities.
So the idea that elementals would be overpowered and unblanace the game is nonense. The other professions would have the choice to go complete the titan quests and unlock their own powerfull skills.
If they choose not to, as many people dont with the titan quests, then thats their choice.
I dunno what kind of skills those would be, but something which could match the power of a titan.
I did also write, or suggest huge resource demand and side effects from using Titans. Huge energy demand, huge recharge times, etc etc!
It wouldnt be a skill that you could use repeatadly, over and over again without it having a negative effect.
And I dont really think it would give anyone a huge advantage during PvE either. It would be for players who have completed the game and play in high level areas where lvl20-24 beasts are.
I would see it as more of a defensive skill. If your overwhelmed and need help, you summon a titan to take the dmg and act as a tank or a wall.
It would work as offensive too, but it would be a toss up between summoning a titan to do large damage but loose large energy and slow regen, or NUKE.
But we do need some kind of insentive for people to complete the titan quests because NO ONE does them!
And a title or an emote isnt enough to incourage that. You want something substantial.

I think something liek and emote is enough, it'd make me happy - some uber skills that create a rift between players is almost never a good idea, a Title wouldnt do as well beacuse id overwrite it with a more impressive title striaght away - A minipet? Or Titan Armour?

If we wear it and die do we then break into two pieces and attack again as smaller versions of ourselves?
I think something more then XP would be nice for finishing the titan quests as they are harder to beat then the Lich or Shiro...or both together. A special weapon or armor for the mission would be nice. like with amulet of mist. get amulet of the titans.

Whether its a skill, or a piece of armor or a weapon. I think we need something physical to show for killing them.
Alot of people shrug off titles and dont really care about them.
But a weapon or armor or a skill... people would go mental for them.
shadowfell
Necromancers got a golem, a baby version of a flesh golem. Dervishes have incredible new god like avatars, including Melandru, 200 + health and complete immunity to conditions.. Baby titans would be awesome as an elite for elementalists. Much like wizards and druids and such can summon beings of elemental nature, and golems in DnD, would be nifty here too.

The TOEO classes are based on the single player TOE game, but it does not have the other classes form other Tales of Games. Some may have different names, but they do the same thing.
I think I have made my case, I am not going to waste my time giving you a proper reply.

Elementalists able to summon titans????
This would completely defeat the purpoe of the elementalist. There purpose is to deal massive AoE/Spike damage not summon.
The Fire attribute is manely spells that deal AoE damage. Put a summoning skill in there and it looks completely out of place.

Make people think of new, fresh builds for ele's.
And it would be a high dmg spell, because your summoning 1 creature to devistate an entire area, so it wouldnt be out of place for a NUKER.
Plus it wouldnt be like necros or ritualist who can summon countless undead or spirits on the fly.
It would be like meteorshower which takes a long time to recharge.
Meaning it would take large energy demands and time to recharge and youd be limited to just one at a time. And probably endure some kind of side effect for using it.
I just think ele's need some new spice added to them. The skills added in factions just sucked really.

Wow, I'm surprised nobody's mentioned arcane echo.... are mesmers THAT far gone from people's minds? Maybe THEY should get the skill :P
Anyway, it would have to be a bit less powerful than an actual titan to prevent the echo abuse...
Poor mesmers....

/signed. I absolutely love the idea, and would love to see this being tied to the elementalist class.
You could also vary it so that the level of the summoned creature has a different name, much like the necromancer...
Below level 19 = Elemental Golem (i.e. Ice Golem, Fire Golem)
From level 19-23 = Elemental Hulk (e.g. Umber Hulk)
From level 24-28 (ELITE like Flesh Golem) = Elemental Titan (e.g. Burning Titan)
This would definitely put a wrinkle into the Elementalist class!

If there are any titans I think it should be limited. Like all titan skills being elite and only one per elementalist. Because in truth summoning really doesn't belong to elementalists. While titans are cool and all. For elementalist they should be limited.
