A Quick Question
DekeDarkstar
Hello, my friend and I decided that we're going to buy Guildwars, but since the original and factions are both standalone games, so which one should we buy? For now we're are just going to get one of them. Any additional information would be appreciated. Thank you in advance to all that help.

i take a Factions chatacter back to chapter 1 just to add some favorite skills to it.
also Nightfall will be out in about 3 months and that might be much better than Factions.
my personal vote is original GW

The original also gets my vote, more content and a better learning curve. You can always add Factions to it later if desired.

Both are pretty good, but I'd recommend the original (Prophecies) only since Factions is shorter. That and Prophecies seems to be harder too, so it'll be more of a challenge.
Painbringer
Original Prophecies is the best for beginners it has a very large area to explore. Good learning curve for beginners. And some nice extra areas for exploring Like Sorrows Furnance. Good farming areas like troll farming for extra Gold

Prophecies, definatly. Painbringer pretty much covered the reasons. =)

Prophecies for the abovementioned reasons, plus Factions isn't very friendly to new players when it comes to gold costs. In Prophecies you'll gain a steady amount of cash and you can afford the best armour in the game when you get there, while in Factions you'll need to farm gold if you want it as soon as you can.
There is one reason to get Factions though; Prophecies will seem like a huge game at first, while Factions is much more narrowed down to begin with. That's just a minor setback though, and if you get Prophecies you can learn at your own pace, not the unnatural one set by Factions.

Um, why would you play game 2 before playing game 1? It's like reading books in the wrong order. It just won't make sense in some areas. If you start with factions, you won't know Aidan, Cynn, The monk dude (cant spell his name), and all the other people.
Prophecies gets my vote.
Prophecies gets my vote.

Thanks for the feedback guys. The reasone I asked is since factions isn't an expansion, then maybe it's a better game. Now I know where to start. Thank you all for your help.
