Why are monstrous eyes rising?

They used to be 200g a while ago, but now they are 250g, and prices for fangs has officially reached insane values at 1500g each! Does someone know something that we don't?

Less supply/Higher demand?

I know I havn't bothered selling any monsterous eyes to the trader (not recently though) because they weren't even giving the 100 gold a merchant would.

Several kinds of armor in Factions require 35 Fangs or 35 Claws for a full set (not including hat), and Eyes are used as well (though not as much, or at least, not in sets that are as popular). And while the Afflicted did notably increase the number of these materials entering the economy, it's nowhere near the new levels of demand. That's why prices on these materials have shot up.

Also note that people are buying lots now to raise prices out of hopes that Nightfall armors will need them even more than Factions armor did. Like how everyone bought rubies and sapphires hoping that when they do come into use they will be worth a fortune.

Big Brother is watching, that's why.
Speculation for Nightfall is the other possible reason.

If these items are needed for armor (Necs?), then I'm surprised that they're at the levels they are now. While I do see the Eyes dropping here and there, the Fangs seem quite a bit more rare indeed.

Edit: Oh god, I said 'indeed'. Slap me now please.

Supply and demand. Red dye, chittin fragments, plant fibers all went up quite a bit after Factions came out. There was speculation about rubies and sapphires before Factions came out. Ecto and Shards tumbled because people were buying Factions armour. It all depends on what is real and perceived in terms of the player base and the actual market demand.

Honestly, I've been saving all materials as of late. Stocking up for the Nightfall release, and since I don't know what materials are going to be the biggest demand, I'm saving them all. I'm sure there are a good amount of people doing that as well, so I'd bet on that being the main reason.

Also, Afflicted are the main source (in Cantha, possibly in the game) for the Monstrous items, and since they're only found at certain parts of the game, parts that most people simply hate to repeat (like Vizunah... ungh), means fewer people killing Afflicted, and fewer people getting those drops.

That's my take on it, anyway.

I think the material storage was partial meant to help stall this. Although people are stockpiling more now due to the convience of it, forcing prices to rise in speculations, once Nightfall actually is released, the crash and the inflation won't be nearly as severe.

Eyes rose to 280 from 250 earlier, looks like people are really buying them up in big quantities, I too bought a stack to put in my storage stash, hopefully they will rise to 1K each

I agree. It's easy to toss materials into your storage now, so I think lots of people will be doing it. When Nightfall hits the shelves, not very many will need to buy tons of materials.
