This is not an advertisment nor is it my sword or bid. I am just gob smacked as to how people accumilate such vast amount of gold!

So my question is, How would you store 1 Billion gold in your storage, is it possible?

Here is the link! http://www.guildwarsguru.com/auction/item.php/id=200310

it is possible, but you have to use in game items in place of a large ammount of the gold. Say, like Globs of Ectoplasm.

basically, Globs of Ectoplasm have a market value of a specific amount. When the item being sold is traded, they give gold as well as globs of ecto to make up the difference. In a case like that sword, it would take multiple transactions. But, the ecto is still worth money as it could be sold to another player at a high price or could be used in FoW armor. It has a high value and it can be stacked in inventory, so it works well as a trade good.

Actually, the auction you pointed to is asking for 1 trillion gold I believe, which is impossible without multiple accounts or extra character slots. Even 1 billion gold is impossible without multiple accounts or extra character slots. Even if you had 1 million 600 thousand gold on a factions/prophesies account and filled every available inventory and storage slot with a stack of ecto (the most expensive stackable item in the game), it wouldn't be worth 1 trillion gold.

Here's the math:

Let's assume each ecto is worth 10,000 gold. (Which it's not, it's actually worth less than that, but humor me) This means that a stack of ecto will be worth 2,500,000 gold.

Each account has 20 storage slots plus the materials storage which allows for 1 more stack of ecto.

Each character has 20 backpack slots, 5 belt pouch slots, and 2 bags that can each hold 10 slots, for a total of 45 slots per character.

(45 slots per character * 6 characters) + 21 storage slots = 291 total slots

291 slots * 2,500,000 gold = 727 million 500 thousand gold

Add in the 1 million gold that can be kept in storage plus the 600 thousand gold that can be stored across each character for a Grand Total of:

729,100,000 Gold

That's still 270 million 900 thousand gold short of 1 billion gold.

It would take an additional purchase of 3 more character slots to get 1 billion worth of gold.

To get 1 trillion gold, you would need 1,372 individual linked factions/prophesies accounts with 6 character slots each.

I hope that put everything in perspective for you guys.

I'm going to have to agree that it is likely fake. And the minimum bid is actually one trillion and 10k, not one billion. Anything over 5 million is likely fake, and it's extremely unlikely that a legitamate auction of that magnitude wouldn't even have a b/o.

1 million in straight cash; then account for 100k on each potential character on the account; then account for 250 ecto in each item slot in storage and on each character
