I read thru some forums and it seems tht most ppl prefer slahing daggers than piercing ones due to some bonuses against piercing dmg...

but here's the thing, From somewhere i read about piercing damage daggers crits more often than the slashing one. Is tht true? Have any of the assassins out there notice anything??

I dont know why people insist on spreading false crappy rumours based on nothing but speculation but no, peircing daggers dont crit more than slashing ones.

What they may mean is that Necro's have access to 'vs piercing' armor...
Else I don't know...

Most people prefer slashing to piercing because of Necro 'vs piercing' armour, and the popularity of Geoffers Bulwark.

Or Shields up +50 armor vs piercing dmg :P, makes sure some allies take lesser dmg from those kind of assasins but the +xx dmg will still go trough so i doubt wether it will make a big difference :/

It got chance to block arrows and armor vs piercing. Btw I may be mistaken, so better check. Anyway, applying elemental dmg to the daggers will probably sidestep this thing.

pirecing damage has more counters than slashing damage (shields up, geoffer's bulwark, bonelace armor are a few that come to mind). However, simply using an elemental set when fighting warriors, necro's or teams with shields up will solve that one :P

For those that like Piercing dagger looks: mod your piercing daggers to elemental damage.
I always went for Slashing myself, because of the various counters already posted in this thread.

Go for slashing daggers, for most builds dagger builds you want zealous mods so you don't really want to go elemental.

Most of the dagger damage comes from the +x damage from your dagger skills, and this ignores armour, so I don't see much point in switching to elemental unless you are unable to use your attack skills for whatever reason.

Over a long period of time, there is a small but noticeable advantage to slashing over piercing, but it is a small advantage, not enough to change the outcome of a combat either way.

It really shouldn't matter.

Assassin's bread and butter is their dual attack +dmg, which ignore armor anyway; that +dmg count for around 75% of your total damage.

Another suggestion would be to mod it with an elemental dagger tang. With the current nerfing of warrior physical damage reduction, you should be able to do more damage to them.

Keep both in your weapon slots so you can switch between them.

Holy crap, at least every other post on this thread is saying the same thing that someone else did two posts above them, lol.

So to summarize:
Slashing over piercing because there are more things out there with damage reduction versus piercing, and not so much vs slashing.

Putting an elemental mod on your weapon can get around that restriction if you want to keep using a piercing skin.

Doesn't matter either way because your dmg + from skills constitutes the majority of your dmg anyway, might as well stick with Zealous.

Does that about cover it all?
