i am guessing u modded the staff ur self, which was a mistake. the staff has only one inherint mod which kinda makes its value go down the drain. i would suggest salvage and hope for the fire wrap

Sorry if this is a rather obvious/noobish question, but why does adding mods to an item decrease its value?

Mods can be changed to the persons likeing.

Adding mods does not decrease the items value, its that by adding the mods, the mods lose value to the absolute value of the item in question.

its not even max damage... salvage for the +1 fire

Salvage is your only option if you dun wanna keep it, non max items are usually dirt cheap =)

salvage IMO and pray for that fire wrap.
