Scariest/creepiest/jumpiest monster/moment?
Mrscoombes
What was your scariest/creepiest/jumpiest monster/moment? Will I ever stop using forward slashes/will I not?
I remember when I had zoomed into 1st person mode, I was wearing a headset with the volume fairly high. I was simply walking along and got bored, so I checked for monsters by holding CTRL, saw the area was fine and tapped 'Sprint'. Then as I reached a turn that couldnt be seen, WAM 4 huge versions of an Abomination pop out from a side turn I didn't see, right infront of me. Naturally I jumped in my seat and then felt like a giant girl's blouse infront of all the people on the TS server who heard my pathetic yelp. =(
Also when you zoom in on the faces of those female bandits in presearing, it CREEPS THE DAMNED HELL OUT OF ME.

Was it smushed? (ohwhatapun)

Krogg Smush, a troll boss...
zoom into him, it'll make you think again before going to hunt his trolls

those dragons in the jade sea gave me a nice jump out of my seat. i was wearing a headset with the volume set pretty high. my warrior was running while hugging a wall and it was all quiet at first since i turn off the gw music. then out of no where a dragon uses ride the lightning on me and a dragon makes this sound then pops rite in front to me. i felt pretty embarassed that a stupid dragon scared me.
Venice Queen
GW? Scary? Ha!
HawkofStorms
Maybe the first time I'd even seen a seige wurm pop up out of nowhere. Other then that...
MrGuildBoi
I didn't scream or jump or anything, I just got slight goosebumps.. I was going for my explorer title, and I was in First Person View then I turned this corner and I saw this HUGE Oakheart dude, then I wondered why it was so huge, then I realized it was an Entangling Root...
Mrscoombes
No-one here can tell me that if you took the face of a female bandit from pre-searing, turned it into reality and put it on someone, that you'd be able to stare into that person's eyes for longer than 5 seconds without exploding. NO-ONE =(

The catacombs in presearing where you fight the shadow beast - that place already had creeped me out, and having to fight something that looked like pure evil on top of that...it was a memorable experience.

I was making my way from Granite citedel to War Camp, killing random stuff out of bordom.
I just zoned into Grenths Footprint. Took a right (the normal path to War camp)
While doing runs like that, i typically talk to guildies in chat... Then all of a sudden, and very unexpectedly.. Maw pops up. Quite literaly scared the hell out of me.. as i didnt know he occasionally spawned there. "Holy #$@!$#$...Theres a big fu@#@$ worm here"
Lets just say, when you arent prepared for a situation like that, you dont live very long!

The scariest moment is when you are 55ing in UW and you hear the sound of a Dying Nightmare popping up late after you ve aggroed a mob already.
Mrscoombes
I remember my friend tricking me into trying to farm Maw. He said 'oh its just a stupid boss with a real cool necro elite' So I thought i'd go kill him with henches and my friend. The journey was horrible as we had 30% dp and alesia must of had -999999%. THen my friend said he;d aggro the boss and told me to go walk over in this space with no monsters. Then Maw popped up, my head blew up in fear. My friend was just like "Oh. There he is."

not a monster moment, but it was creepy.
my first time in SF, with henchies. walking under those crunchers or whatever they are called. Hadn't see them at all, they were all high and safe. suddenly BOOM one lands 2 inches before my feet. According to my guildies on teamspeak, my reaction was great.

Running around and having 4 lvl 24 ONI appear and immediately wipe you because hench healers lag.

Scariest: Definately my first Sand Worm.
Creepiest: First trip into UW.
Jumpiest: Rounding a corner just into post-seering and seeing Cobble Poundstone poised to lay the smack down on my lvl 4.

I heard a minipet scream and it scared me a bit. I'm not sure which, but I'm assuming the troll?
Carl Butanananowski
I thought it was the Bone Horsemen people. How they always go 'AIIIIGHHHCC!'

scariest, definitely the when my monk's mini charr did his first really loud growl. I think it's the same fx as the mini troll.
I think I was in fow with a party and the battles were pretty quick one after another, and I'd hear this growl of an attacking monster from right behind me while keeping the party alive under shadow caster spikes. Panicked, I spin the camera looking for the source, but a glance at the radar says no mobs near my area. Get back into the healing rhythm, and bam, there it is again! Surrounded by spells, skill effects and running casters makes it pretty confusing when it sounds like there's something about to attack you every few seconds. It took me a bit before I figured out that my mini charr was having a good laugh scaring me at every opportunity, camouflaging himself among the rocks.
Kuna I think is more annoying than scary though, with his constant flap flap flap.
Biggest scare in prophecies - first time a party of lvl 15's tried to fight our way through lornars to droknar before the existance of runners, and we were ambushed by one of the wurms.. then escaping and end up having 2-3 worms making pulp out of our party

I dont find Guild Wars scary
I dont play with sound as I like to listen to music or watch television. I dont run Guild Wars in full screen so I can chat to people on MSN. I also skip all the cut scenes lol.

Not really scary, but sure is scary for my Monk's health when she's running around with henchmen through alleys and then 50 Am Fah pop up and start tearing through Sister Tai.
Guardian of the Light
Wasn't scary at all but I remember playing monk wiht henchies and getting pin in by 3 monsters, getting stuck in 1st person. All I could think of was "GET EM OFF AAAA"

well, when i had like 200 ram i didn't get to do that so i'd have to say in post seering when i turned a corner and saw a grawl boss i ran back as fast as i could.

My only minor jump moment was when I lagged and an Afflicted Necromancer went through me. I thought he was attacking, when he was really five feet away from my character.
GuildWars Combat

Heh, glad I'm not the only one that jumped when first adventuring with that Tengu henchie lol! I actually turned around to see what was attacking me!
As for jumpiest, I jump a little bit last night when doing the bonus to the ring of fire - had my camera zoomed in too close and Eidolon practically dropped on my head...

Not a creepy/scary/jumpy moment, but I'm going to share anyways.
In every game I've played, whenever my character takes sudden, massive, unexpected damage, I'll actually scream/yell in real life, voicing my character's pain out loud. This is a constant source of irritation for my wife, especially when we're on teamspeak.
So, my mes and the hench are visiting SF for the first time and we come across the quest where you have to take care of the flame djinn. I'm thinking "What the hell is that? A firey tinkerbell?", proceed a little closer, and after a quick consuming flames, I'm screaming in pain and shock.
I didn't hear my wife calling anxiously for me, out of concern, (I was carrying on too loudly I guess), but I did hear her snippy little comments afterwards when she came in to check and make sure I still had all my appendages attached.
In my own defense, she should know by now the selection of words/phrases I use when I do actually injure myself. I only do the exaggerated, painful, girlyman scream of despair when I'm playing videogames.

I've never actually been scared, mostly just creeped out, and not so much by appearances, mainly noises.
Like that random noise some of the Charr make when they hit you that sounds like a 20 foot Bowser on crack.
My first journey through Kryta was pretty intense though, having never seen the undead before, and randomly lawling through the swamps thinking I was doing fine. I wasn't paying attention to my radar, and the mass mob of about 15 enemies swarming me, including those damned Bone Horsemen that just gave me really creepy thoughts.
Oh, and, my first attempt at The Villainy of Galrath quest.
I made it about 60% of the way with henchies and I was sooo stoked until I turned this corner and there, spawned out of nowhere, were about 10+ lvl 20+ Nightmares and other irritating monsters that simply owned the crap out of me.
I've always hated that quest. Always.
Oh, and the one time I tried Captured Son in Factions, and decided to forget about the whole "hold ALT or CTRL to see enemy names" thing. So, natrually, lawling along like usual, humming a circus song perhaps, and BAM I realise there's about 1904721049712047120472149 enemies required to die in this quest, all huddled in the same area.
The biggest shock in terms of that quest, was having to question what was going through that quest-developers head when he decided to make it the most retarded quest in the game.
Aside from that, Sand Worms just creep me out man.
They want to swallow your shit like the Sarlacc swallowed Boba Fett.
