Green drops - how many out of X # of kills?
bokken
Is there any information or any idea on how the drops work for green weapons?
Completley Random?
or has there been any study on how many drop per X number of kills?
Im just curious - I assume we have no way of knowing the answer to this, but there are some very bright and determined people in the GW community and I assume some one else might be interested in this answer.

I don't belive it IS completely random. Because this could cause times when there are loads droping and other times when none. This would have a bad effect on the in game prices. A-net must be able to alter the drop rate of stuff as if it was completely random it would be hard to have a 2x gold drop weekend like we had. As to how many bosses you have to kill to get one, well I've killed about 1000 factions bosses at least and got 4 greens. While in SF until recently I could get 2 or 3 a day. Now I'm lucky to get that many a week.

You could chart it with a full team of 8 and try to get a percent, but that would take a long long time. Kill a boss 100 times record the drops and see how many times someone gets green. Unfortunatly you do not see if it falls for henchies so you would need a full human group. I have actually had a double green drop once from the Yakslapper. I was very surprised but you can actually go for days with out a single drop. This is only my opinion but I have noticed a better chance for drops when most people are not playing like early am.

Before factions came out i did 5-man ORO farming with my monk and was able to get 2 greens every run. It was very wierd because everytime i did a run only me and the bonder would get greens then i tried it with my war and necro and I only got like 1 or nothing per run. Thats when i started to consider that SF farming was a monk lover
. I havent been back to SF farming in awhile so i dont know if monks are still likely to get the most greens.

Well since there is no such thig as "real" random generator, greens (and every other item for that matter) has to have some kind of distributing algoritam. But in my short expirience (I have only been playing for two months) I noticed that most drops are resereved for players with high expirience, altough that could be due to the fact that players with high expirience do more dmg

Underworld Calling
it has nothing to do with how much damage done because then the monk would not get any drops and we all know that is not true.
it is completely random, and the greens and golds drop a certain percentage of the time.

there seem to be diffeerent drop rates for different greens. For example, I have been farmin Melandru Hope manti for a few days now. There are 3 mantis bosses which drop three different greens. Now on almost every run I kill all three bosses and as a result, I have 2 daggers, 0 offhands and 0 wands.

Nanood
Greens are like any other drop. Everything has a percentage chance to drop.

My experiences with 5 man oro farming is that the noob people your whole team spends 10 mins yelling grab the damm gear gets all the cool green stuff.

its a mystery...but I will say that I usually quest with henchies....on these quests my ele seems to get green drops (have gotten daggers twice and a bow), none of my other characters seem to get drops.....when I quest with my guildee and henchies he gets all the greens (got rots put'lence, a bow, a mesmer focus item, 2 staves.....)----in cantha....
a while back (before factions) we were doing one of the SF quests and had to take 2 henchies with us.....still managed to get a green that time as well...and my monk used to clean house in SF as well, and he was completely healing!
When they started the tombs runs.....I finished it with 5 characters and never got a green item.... my guildee got 3....even when we had only 4 characters remaining I STILL didnt get a green.....so when someone comes up with the magic number of times to kill a boss.......please drop me a line!!!!!!!!

The only green I've ever gotten after dozens of ORO/FA farming was a galigords stone staff. So yeah, random or just overfarmed.

Well, if you just farm and farm the same place over and over again you are less likely to get a green on the say, 50th run than the first, because in an update it said that farming the same area a lot of times will reduce the drop rates. So you would need to farm some-where else to reset the farming code.

My guess is as to why certain bosses seem more likely to drop greens is because there are some bosses that have items associated with what kind of creature they are. Let's say Mantids..they have a % chance to drop Mantid Pincers... If you come across the boss, the boss has a high % chance of dropping the Pincers, and a lower % chance of dropping the green, compared to a boss that doesn't have a specific collector item drop from it.
Guildwiki.org has a list of what bosses have a chance to drop what kind of stuff, and the more is in that list, the less likely he is to drop a green.
Just my thoughts though, no proof whatsoever.

Simple... farming code = alot of people farming the same thing the drop rates reduces and vice versa. Also the rarity of the drop comes into play as well, the more rarer the item the harder it becomes to drop.
