Critical strikes can be used for all noncasters:
Ranger - Bow
Warrior - Sword/Axe/Hammer
In Factions the pool gets increased:
Paragon - Spear <-- this is the highlight here. Paragon has 2 pips of energy so Assassins have some advantage over Paragon primary w/ regards to energy
Dervish - Scythe
So Spear... Critical strikes+ spear = critical spear-user?
Examples:
- Sharpen Daggers + Stunning Strike looks promising
-Wild Throw replaces Wild Strike/Wild Blow as most effective stance remover since it is ranged
-Critical Eye with Vicious Attack --> more chance of deep wound
Hope for assassins in Nightfall?

If it's only assassin build, then anet need to make the builds do more area damage.

I had real trouble fighting a Dervish with my assassin, I hope they will still be a good choose in the next chapter.
stillarook
I think dervish are overpowered.

don't worry, nerf is the experty of ANet, they will nerf it
Yanman.be
A/D with scythe on critical hit = GG damage.

Well a lot of skills paragons have are adrenline anyway, but still paragons can boost their energy regen to 4 with aria of power, of coure they could boost yours to 6 or a rangers to 5 as long as you do not use spells.
Tingi
yea I also found it dificult to win against a dervish 1v1 with my assassin. Most used to Melandru avatar so the FS Twisting Fangs combo didn't really work

I don't see how Nightfall can be anything but bad for the assassin profession. No new skills for the Assassin while the core professions will all get new stuff including powerful new elites. Bad for the ritualist too, actually.
Regarding dervish and paragon as secondary professions for assassins: yeah, I expect there will be lots of A/D and A/P builds, but I don't expect them to be very good or effective. The reason is pretty obvious: dervish and paragon were designed from the ground up to synergize with the core professions and with each other. They were not designed to function well with the assassin and ritualist because Anet wants customers to be able to play Nightfall as a stand-alone game.
