My Ugly Stick, kills me!
Warpy
My ugly stick seems to degenerate health very fast, what is the point in a weapon stealing health? Makes no sense to me!
* Blunt damage: 19-35 (req. 9 Hammer Mastery)
* Damage +15%
* Armor -10 (while attacking)
* Life stealing: 5
* Health regeneration -1
* Health +30

I take it it's a vampiric staff of sorts.
Well, a vampiric weapon that steals health is very powerful, and had to be balanced out with the negative health gen. I reccomend you have a second non-life draining weapon.
As a ranger, barrage + life stealing bow = w00tness. Of course, that doesn't apply, but you can see how it works out.

It's for people who like to steal health from their targets, 1-5[or 3-5, I can't remember] is how much health it can take, depending on the weapon[no wands or staffs]. The degeneration is for balance
Ulivious The Reaper
you get -1 health regeneration with vampiric wepons.. just switch wepons out while not fighting, solves the problem

Ninetail Trickster
So long as you keep hitting your opponent, you gain more health than you lose. Just switch to a different weapon set in between battles, like Ulivious said. ^^

It steals 5 health from the enemy on top of whatever damage you do. Essentially you do 5 more damage every hit. It's one of the better prefixes you could have, and the preferred one for physical damage.
Ulivious The Reaper
yep, vampiric mods do the most damage over time, however to compensate that they have -1 health degen, slap on some mending or switch wepons and you'll be fine as i stated before, and just so eldin knows, the ugly stick is a hammer not staff
VGJustice
A vampiric weapon deals an additional amount of flat damage on top of it's normal damage, be that 3, 5, or whatever. That damage bypasses armor, so it always adds that much damage to every hit. Vamp weapons are very powerful, thus the health degen.

So, if I smash the enemy with my Ugly Stick I will gain health each time?
samifly
yup

DeanBB
Yes, in addition to whatever damage you do with the weapon or an attack skill, they take an additional 5 points of armor-ignoring damage and you receive 5 points of healing.
vinegrower
yes, they loose 5, you gain 5.

Also it's not a bad choice for AD spikes in PvP, but I'm not sure about the -10 armor while attacking and having Frenzy on...see what works out for you best

Warpy
I might just keep this hammer after all.

Vampiric upgrades, or simply vamp, is what the lifesteal mod is normally called. If you wanted to make your own weapon with lifesteal you'd look for a vamp mod.
Paradox Incognito
im tempted to keep mine after reading this, some good info!

Vamp mod is good but -10 ar while attacking is NOT good in my opinion.
Get a nice 15^50 hammer and put vamp mod on it ...way better.
I also prefer +5 armor upgrade instead of +30 hp and it costs a lot less
Last note you must weapon swap with vamp weapons when not engaged in combat.

Well -10 attacking isnt that bad in pvp on a hammer. For pve itd be pritty bad as a warrior your first to take damage usualy. However -10 on a sword or axe is probably one of the best you can get because a shields makes up for the -10 and still gives +6 more.
Sir Skullcrasher
you can either switch to different weapons in middle of a battle or cast mending and keep fighting. (hope there isn't a mesmer or other enemies that can remove enchantment)

BTW, +5 armour is better than +30 hp.

if you keep dying so badly ill bet its the -10 armour causing you to get nailed.

So would the Ugly Stick be the most powerful hammer given all its stats?

But for actual use, I'd take a 15^50 Vamp Hammer of Fort over it.
majoho
just to be petty, you don't do 5 more damage you steal 5 life, it's a rather important difference.

All my hammers are 15>50, i use a vamp one to spike casters and rangers, and an elemental one to spike warrior (ignoring absorption and +AL vs physical ftw)
