Heros = Solution to lack of ppl in missions

If this has been talked about I apologize.

Just wondering if the new heros are Anet's solution to the spreading thin of GW players over 3 campaigns. Historically most of the missions have required 8 players. What if Nightfall missions only took 4 players and 4 heros? That's almost like having 8 players and you don't have to use henchmen.

I think it's a great idea. You should be able to play the game however you want. If you like grouping with real poeple you can, and now this will hopefully make so you can get by on your own if you want to do that.

How would it make people happy to force a restriction of four players and four heroes? Isn't it better to just let people bring as many of each (up to the max) as they want?

yeah someone in another thread commented on this too

jealousy will be abound "guys you wanna take my Hero?" "no way dude, your hero is noob, take mine"

but it only makes sense that it would be the group's leader to controll the henchway... no one can be sure at this point.

yes, everyone prepare for Hero-Hate. People will bash your Heros, just wait.

THINK OF GOLD SINK ON THIS EVERYBODY

heroes that level up with you and equip items of your choosing.

you are going to have to invest in armor/weapons/shields/foci/etc for each of your super henchies

who will be the first to outfit his hero in 15k/FOW?

Hell, I see so many rich people in game buying it up just to have their heroes match.

then they can equip their heroes with whatever drops or collector items for free.

the ones that hate this the most will not use henchies so why should they need super henchies?

these are optional for the people who find that the average iq of a group is 100 divided by the number of people in the group and twice as stupid.

this gives people an option to avoid the jerks out there and still succeed in a mission where you need some basic control over the henchies.

if they only give me the ability to command them to stay and not run off attacking at random it will be wonderful

Well, we don't have to give our Heroes expensive crap.

If they don't come with decent stuff, I'll give them collector items, but that's it.

I'm a cheap hero master!

EDIT: Lov beat me to it!

Regarding the money sink, there remains one question. Will you get the items your hero acquires, unlike henchman? Or, at the least, will the cash/items be tied to the hero so that you can use those funds to buy that hero armor?

A.net wasn't thinking that. We don't know for sure if that is how it will work. I have a feeling it will be more like a PvP character creation system for your heros where you can choose all sorts of equipment setup.

A.net does not like grind and farming. Just look at greens and the Canthan quick leveling for proof.

I'd be cool to let your own characters be the heroes(henchies) that help you ,
though i can see some imbalancing issues.

So I won't need to keep shouting at Talon Silverwing every time he runs into a group that I'm trying to pull back with my bow? Does this also mean the healers won't try to kamikaze run to the front?

That sounds cool. I wouldn't bother with NPC's at all except the noobs don't seem to realise that every class has it's own healing skills and there's a good reason why everyone should carry a rez signet/skill. As for the leavers... well that's the last time I ever try for the survivor title with other players (cept guildies anyway)

Oh yeah and I agree with the previous comment about my own characters as henchies... access to their inventory would be nice too.

If you buy Nightfall and get the "heroes" will you be able to use them in all the chapters you own or just nightfall, or has this not been answered yet?

I Don't think they'll limit the heroes to Nightfall, but i'm not sure. Anyone else think 7 touch ranger heroes sounds appealing?

Besides that, I heard that there was information about this on another site, but that site was shut down, so that could mean A-net doesnt want us to know all the cool little features they're gonna add, or they dont want us to get all hyped up about something they're not gonna put in the game.

I think that the hero idea was one of the best to ever be implimented into GW. As for the comments about it being a gold sink, I bet that it'll be pretty easy to fund the heroes for the most part. I hope that they will be usable on any of the characters on your account, though; funding 6 characters worth of heroes (7 x 6 slots= 42!) could get very pricy, even with collectors items. Just max armor, which is 1.5k a piece plus materials and runes, which probably runs 2.5k (minus the vigor) for the whole set if you don't have them saved up... that's 10k per set of armor per hero. I have no problem paying that... as long as all my characters will get to benefit from it. If not... let's hope the non-hero henchmen don't suck (if they even have them).

Give me a 55hp monk and i can start my own dual farming in UW.
LOL, that's going to be fun,
and I hope they have 2nd pro so that i can make a warrior and start my own iway team in pve

^^^I hope not

I hope there are some good limits to this hero's and I think they are more like a extra storage for on the way to pick up all the items and don't have to salvage anything, i think it would be nice to buy armor and weapon for them.
