i just made it up to Vasburg Armory and wanted to do some farming with my ranger.

while there were lots of people there putting together 4 man groups, no one would take me. i guess people have some preconcieved notion on what a 4 man farming group should look like and if you dont have the right class you cant go.

this really pissed me off. i mean, there are multiple classes to play in GW and different ways to play each class. i feel that anyone can bring something valuable to the group. if a class was useless, then it wouldnt be in GW.

now i understand that in a small group you will need a monk and a tank. but the other classes should be flexible. it is wrong to omit a certain class from a party. it is wrong to ruin a persons play time because you dont think they offer anything to the group.

the next time you are putting together a party, take that ranger or mesmer or whatever with you. you will be surprised what they can do. hell, its definately better than sitting around town.

lets shatter the preconcieved notions on what a farming party should look like.

I got used to it when all the B/P groups never wanted anyone except a Mo, R, or N.

Form a solo expedition....I believe you can solo that area as a R/N. Check the farming section.

that just the deal tho guys....i should not have to get used to it or have to resort to solo farming.

i want people to give all classes an equal shot.

i mean, yeah, you can want your party to look a certain way, but when those classes you want are not around, let the ranger or mesmer or whoever join the party.

i dont think this is too much to ask.

The same thing happen during the SF update in chap1. People were taking anyone and there was flexibilty, then over time it was the 4man only thing like your talking about. Sadly, thats why I dont do Vasburg that much. Its overfarmed over there anyway.

Pretty much anything seems to be this way now in GW. Unless you are lucky and find a group that doesn't care who they take with them because they would rather play then stand in town looking for a specific class for a few hours. Probably makes em angry when they finaly get what they were looking for then that person leaves lol. Sorry guess I shouldn't laugh at that. It does suck when that happens.

Grind is subjective

learn this please

We definitely needed another "i hate cookiecutter" thread.

Yes we know you're unique yes we know you're so useful on whatever class you are yes people suck that they don't take you WE KNOW

People don't take whatever class you are because there is a set, idealized farming group and people like efficiency without having to guess whether you'll be as good as x class that they're looking for.

The masses have determined what the most efficient and effective 4-man group is for Eternal farming. There's really no point in them ruining their effectiveness by dropping either the necro or elementalist for a lower dps output ranger. >.> Farming is about being fast and successful, not taking anyone and everyone who wants to go.

For the record, I don't farm because it's pointless. Grind is rather worthless with respect to GW.

i dont think this is too much to ask. You have three choices:

1. Level a class that people desire for farming. (You don't want to do this.)
2. Develop a team farming build that incorporates your class (Ranger).
3. Figure out how to solo farm using your ranger. (You don't want to do this.)

I realize that you want every one to "play nice," but this just isn't going to happen. You're asking people to be flexible in terms of inviting you, but you're not flexible enough to go and level a class that's desirable for farming.

Lastly, I'll give you this nugget of advice:

If you have Prophecies go make a touch ranger. (There's a thread in the farming forum giving you the "411" on touchers.) You can solo quite a few bosses out of Varsburg with a touch ranger. You could also bring another 2 touch rangers and a monk and farm most stuff really quickly.

Absence of Evidence [AoE]

Please don't create yet another "whine" thread because you weren't accepted into every group you wanted to be in. If it's a 4 man farming group, they have 4 SPECIFIC builds they want. They didn't say you couldn't do it. They rejected you because you didn't fit THEIR need.
It's not wrong to omit a certain class from your group. If I'm head of the party, it's MY choice to decide what and who I want to play with. If you don't like it, form your own party and you can include anyone you want....but please don't come here and whine because you didn't get accepted into a group NOT looking for a ranger.
Do you go to TOA and whine because a SS necro won't take you to UW for a 2 man team??

Just keep playing the way you want to. There are some people out there that wont try somthing new or not open minded. Just dont expect them to let you in thier little 4man farming groups.

i dont think this is too much to ask. It seems that you want people to bend the norm for you, yet you think you should not have to bend for them and their cookie cutter builds. Lets face it, the groups are developed for efficiency.

Develop a farming cookie cutter build around your ranger. Then you can descriminate against the other classes not in your build.

As somebody stated above, form a group of touch rangers. That should be able to clear out that area with good speed. Better yet, go with guildies and friends.

Well, when farming a certain area, people only want certain professions with certain builds. While people won't need you in Vasburg Armory as a ranger, you will be invited in 5 party's in Temple of the Ages (for in a trapper team).

You are always needed somewhere or for something, but you can't expect to always be needed by everyone.

How about this. If you really think you can shatter the "preconcieved notions" of how to farm, get some people with you who have some time to waste, and in whichever area you're complaining about, come up with some way to farm using unused/unwanted classes that is just as fast and uses as few people as the "lame cookie-cutter" farming groups do. Or, if you really take the time to examine why they do what they do, it is because (generally) it is the most efficient way to farm that area using the lowest possible number of people. Lots of time and effort goes into perfecting these farming builds, so try not to get mad at them for doing what they do. It's not their job to find a spot for you in farming builds, it's YOUR job to make a spot for yourself. To sum up, your choices are:
1) make your own group
2) make whatever it is that they want you to take
3) find some other people who also have "unwanted" classes and go farm with them
However, don't expect to be able to farm as well as the other farming groups do. You might be able to find a way, but it will probably take several tries. The most important thing to remember when Doing Your Own Thing is, to have fun.

Well then why dont you make a group instead? Same to all the people who say oh, they won't let me in because a certain class would do better than me. Yes all classes have a place in PvP, but in pve, if you bring a class that wouldnt work as good as a different class, you are just bringing dead weight that will slow you down and steal your drops.

i dont think this is too much to ask. So, basically, you want them to do what you want, even if thats not what they want to do?

boy, good thing nobody knows how to read backwards or you might've gotten banned.
More on the topic of the thread though:
You must admit that the original post wasn't a question on whether anyone knows a group build which utilizes rangers for farming out of vasburg, it was a commentary on your unhappiness with the state of affairs there in party makeup. Since it was the latter, one could in fact EXPECT the kind of replies that are here. The one's reading between the lines (MelechRic) do so by going even more out of their way to help a fellow ranger. get some rangers and b/p it, 3 rangers and a necro/monk aught to do it. or heck, 4 touchers like MelechRic said. Armed with the knowledge that people less flexible when it comes to 'builds' than is going to be useful for a ranger or a mesmer or an assassin... Isn't it just more fun to go solo farm what they want and sell it to those guys at high prices?

1. find another farming spot where ran r in high demand
2. farm solo
3. start another char

my first char was a ranger to and i figuered out rangers arent really popular to farm with so there are you can do 2 things: make an other character and chase to there (done in 2days) or if you really like to farm with your ranger look for a ferry to Urgoz and make a good trapper team

Reading this post brings a smile to my face ------ why dun these pple do what *I* want? *I* want to stick with what *I* want to do! *I* comes before *U*!

*They* all want to get their greens as soon as possible, that's why.

Farming is abt getting what u want, in this case greens, as fast as possible. Why should pple sacrifice a build that can do 10 runs an hr for another that does 2 runs an hr just because someone (who's a complete stranger) wants to play his ranger there?
