=======================

I wish to find out if they are any others out there like me, loves to play Guild Wars, but is plagued out the dreaded lag beast.

For myself, I discovered that during early mornings, around 5am ~ 9am (GMT +8:00), there is no lag, no lag spikes. But during afternoon, or evenings, the lag is horrible, loading screens while map zoning can take minutes instead of the usual 10 to 15 seconds.

This does not stop me from playing Guild Wars though, my work requires me to wake up early, so I play a bit during the mornings before I head off to work where the connection is smooth and lag free.

=======================

Are there anyone else out there in Riverside Inn who shares similiar experience with me?

Just a question, have you updated your computer? If your Video Driver, Sound Driver or even your version of Windows is outdated, you will get lag.
Also, make sure you have at least 20 GB of free space on your hard drive, and at least 1 GB of RAM.

That being said, I have been having some issues with lag at what could be called peak hours. I was playing at 8 a.m. GMT and I was lag free, but when I played again at 6 p.m. GMT I had lag.

I'm in Malaysia as well. Not sure whether my streamyx is the same speed as yours. Are you paying RM88 or 66? But anyway i was experiencing a 1 second lag when i cast spells. and loading can be slow at times but other than that not much lag. But i wouldn't know now after that lightning storm a few days ago fried my modem.

Curse You, can you help a blond female? why do I need 20gb of free space, and how do I create that when one drive (phsyical) is 30gig and the other 40gig (phsyical), both realtivly full, and GW runs of e: drive, not c: where my OS is located (both on the same physical drive).

I get lag issues when someone is using our network for downloading a lot of stuff, when my comp needs rebooting (about once every 1-2 weeks) and when my taskbar is full of other processes running.

i run into lag pretty much all the time. i also am running the game with minimum requirements in my comp. my problem lately has been after playing the game for over an hour or so straight i lose my connection.

i have updated all my drivers and all. i think part of the problem is i'm usually playing during peak times times when nearly all the districts of an area are full. also i have hardly and ram so when too much goes on on the screen i lag really bad and even lose connection.

i also noticed when i'm in a group of all players, no henchmen, i will lag depending on connections of other players and if there's a necro with minions i lag so much it makes it impossible to play.

so i will chalk up my problems to my crappy 5yr old computer. for the rest of you as someone already said, update your drivers for your graphics card, sound card and modem. and if you go under options in game you can have the game detect the best settings for your computer. i did this and of course it put everything at the minimum. also more ram can help with the lag problem. if your like me and only running 256mb's than upgrade to at least 512mb or ideally 1gb of ram (if your motherboard can handle it, check your paperwork or manufactorers website).

You need to have a bigger hard drive, the smallest one I have is 80 GB, the other is 120 GB. I meant to say that having about 20GB of free space helps, but is not a requirement.
It is still sugested that you have at least 10 GB of free space when you play most modern games.

Personally, I have 17 GB free space at the moment, and am working on freeing up more by transfering all my programs to my larger secondary drive.

DSL - Lag happens but is rare.

It's not an every day occurance and for the most part, does not affect me but it does happen. When it does, it doesn't bother me, but then again, it's mostly pve. I can't blame Anet due to can't rule out FFXI running on PS2 downstair or running other apps that take up bandwidth in the background.

Had 4 disconnections tonight. Along with others so I know it isn't me. I'm getting really really tired of it as it has now messed up Nahpui for me 4 times.

I got almost no lag most of the time. Last days there was a massive storm over Europe, thus all my buddies got discs and some lag.

Very severe lag at time of this post in Fort Aspenwood. Not just me complaining, but probably half the players there were experiencing bad lag including server disconnects, error 7. My connection is 4 megabit per second.

Tests indicate no problems with my internet connection.

There is a severe lag problem. Not everyone seems to have it. It may be an upstream problem with ANet's ISP.

Experiences lag: I usually get no lag, but recently my connection to Anet has been terrible.

Last night i had 4 error 7s in a row from just logging in.

Log in, error 7.
Log in, error 7.
Log in, map teleport somewhere, error 7.
Log in, error 7.
Log in, map, farm, kill everything except 1, right before i pick up my loot, error 7.
Log in, map, walk to skills guy, error 7.

< sarcasm> ^_^ its fun </ sarcasm>

Seriously. Ive had more error 7s these past few days than ive had in MONTHS. And it isnt me, cause im still on vent, irc, trillian, firefox, and running itunes and those are fine and not lagging (internet or processing wise). Ive been running guild wars like this for MONTHS now.
