Why is "bag locking" at merchant account based?

It makes absolutely NO sense. If you don't know what I'm talking about, visit a merchant and click on a few bags under the sell tab. Then change to another character and the same bags will be checked/unchecked.
I hope that's not meant to work that way because, for example, I want to lock 3 or 4 bags on my storage char, but of course, on my other chars I'd like to have a different setup. So, is this a (known) bug? Or should I post this in Sardelac (if someone hasn't already)? Searching didn't help me so I decided to ask here.

It's not a bug, just a (lack of) feature. If you change stuff to do with the layout and interface, it is account based, otherwise it would have to store that info 4-6x for every account.

Thanks for the fast response. I didn't realize it's connected with the layout and interface, so if it would be that much trouble to change it, I guess I can live with it. But I am kind of dissapointed .

It's there to protect you from yourself - I wouldn't complain too much. :\

I find it very useful actually. I keep my weapons in the beltpouch and then 'lock it off' so as not to accidentaly sell them in error or by a lag spike.

Yeah, me too. And I would use the same bags across all active characters the same way.

But I think he's talking about dedicated storage characters and wants to lock more bags than he would on the characters he's playing. I can see why you'd want to do that.

But agree that the extra overhead (and narrowly focused gaming utility) makes it unlikely to ever happen.

Thanks, I guess only you and Carth` actually read my post -.-

To make it more clear: I don't complain about the feature (I use it all the time), but I thought it would be even more useful (or at least more practical) to make it character based. That's why I made this thread. Obviously that is not possible, so we can forget the story.

Well... Son of a gun. I didn't know you could lock your bags.

Thanks for that information.

At the merchant window there will be 5 greyed icons at the top with a green checkmark on top of whichever ones are opened up to sell. The first is your armor, the second your backpack, then belt pouch then your two bags. Just click the icons to uncheck or check parts of your inventory.

I always keep only my backpack and belt pouch checked. My bags are always full, and there's usually some overflow into the belt pouch. My lesser used chars, like my sin, rit, and ele are half mules since they only really need one set of armor, a few headpieces and a couple weapons. Since the bag locking is global I just even my stuff out across all chars so I can make sure the junk loot gets accounted for and sold, and my wanted stuff stays in the bags.

Thanks, Moses. I was playing with the feature today. Wow, 15 months in this game, and I'm still learning new things. rofl

I usually have all of them except my backpack turned off because all my other bags have good stuff (salvage kits, id kits, xpert slavage kits, 2 spare sets of armor including helmets, holiday things, axe, sword, hammer (whichever 2 i'm not using), spare shields, mini kuunavang, kuunavangs mini friend coming in just under 2 months...) If you have trouble having to turn bags on and off, just do what I did and keep a Jade Wind Orb with me. Can't get them anymore though. I'll sell it for 100k+50 ectos though. Very rare!

Actually, any changes to the interface are not only per account, but per PC. If you log into a different account on the same PC you will have the same interface. :/

No, you won't have the same interface on the second account. Please recheck and correct me if I'm wrong, but I distinctly remember wandering why the heck don't the keybindings from my first account work in my second one. As keybindings are integrated into the interface this lead me to believe that interface settings are stored PER ACCOUNT on the anet server.

True. I play at two places, at home, and occasionally at office when there's nothing else to do. I have the same GUI at home and office, as well as keybindings. If I change something at home, the changes will be at office as well, and vice versa.

During the previous beta weekend, I didn't feel like deleting my existing charas, and used my old Factions preview account to create a Dervish and fool around with it, I didn't have the keybindings nor the GUI settings on that account which I have on my "own" account, thus GUI and keybindings are account based, not per PC.
