If you have seen the ingame Nightfall video then you have seen the Emperor of Cantha in Elona.
So just why is the Emperor of Cantha in Elona? I mean think about it for a moment, the opening quest for people from outside of Cantha is focused on Menlo. It seems to me the easiest way for players from NightFall to get involved in Factions is for Mhenlo to ask them to join him in Elona and off they go. You then don’t have to change anything quest wise and when your Paragon or Dervish arrives in Cantha you can tag along with Mhenlo easily enough just like all the other characters from Tyria.
So ask yourself again “why is the Emperor in Elona?” Personally I don’t think this has to do with bringing characters from Elona to Cantha at all. I actually think he is there to help drive away the darkness in some way. What do you guys think? One other detail to consider. The emperor was seen outside of a city in town speaking to another official. You can tell this by the fact everyone has weapons showing.
The Emperor in Nightfall holds a mystery.

Mhenlo just bringing you over there wouldnt fit too well Timeline wise. The crossing over to new continents isnt just "talk to this NPC and 'off you go'" it actually resolves around quests that actually fit into the storyline.
I cant make any predictions about the Canthan's helping Elonians, but it sure has something to do with the Darkness probably - since we know that Canthans have a concern about them (The Zaishens that show up anywhere the Darkness goes, are Canthan).
Also...NPC's CAN hold their weapons (and often do) in Towns and outposts. Only YOU cant.

/signed for show weapon option in town
i mean... yeah I hope Kisu was just there as a filler-npc for the preview... Kisu is a stupid looking npc.. cant explain my hatred for that guy... hes just a dufus.
My initial guess was that that town is the 'port of travel' and maybe Kisu is only there to grant you passage to cantha (if you have factions)
I still think Kisu sucks. Why cant it just be good ol' reliable Deckhand Jakob...

There's customizable Heroes, which you can apparently unlock, equip, and choose skills for.
I don't know if Henchmen themselves will be customizable, or if people heard about Heroes, and assumed all Henchman would be like that.

Probably all Prophecies characters will have to leave from Tyria, and all Factions chars from Cantha. The prohpechies side will proabably be some link from the desert, and since it's been mentioned in-game that there is a trade route from Elona to Cantha, that'll more than likely be your route from there.
