Im intending to organise a group to go through Nightfall as quickly as possible. Maybe without sleep depending on how long it takes us (i.e. after 2 full days we will probably need a break). Anyway I figured I should look for interest and start organising it.

I am lo0oking for at least a certain level of ability in the people coming, so say any qualifications. (god that sounds pompous and arrogant)

This is the party I intend to take. (we will be starting with brand new characters, not tyrian/canthan)

1. Warrior -Mortal Transfer
2. Dervish -The Truth Itself
3. Ranger -NevinJF
4. Elementalist -Amok Affinity
5. Necro Minion Master
6. Paragon -Linkusmax
7. Monk -KurtTheBehemoth
8. Monk - Bowman Artemis

Say what you would be interested in playing.

We will be using Ventrillo, I will be frapsing important parts and will be posting screenshots on guru (most likely in the community works forum if possible) here every two hours.

-There is currently another post on GWOnline for the same reason, I will update both with interested parties/new information.

with the addition of heroes... may want to reconsider how many players you really need

the top-end dungeons can now be attempted by just two players, each with a main character and three heroes, totalling up to the maximum of eight characters.

eh it was never a matter of how many I need, I just think a party of 8 skilled humans will always be better then henchies, even if they are set up as you like them.

Trust me, even if they double the difficulty of factions. It will still be easy.

No assassins or ritualists needed I see.

How typical... let the discrimination begin!

I guess that is targeted toward PVE content.

Ok.

To the OP.
I plan on starting a PVE elementalist when Nightfall comes out, and I would join you in the number 4 spot. However, I don't have big chunks of time to devote to it. I really am just a casual player. But I hope you find a good group to work with.

Is it a race? Why rush it when you can take your time and enjoy yourself? Personally I try and keep my competetiveness for RL (where it pays off) and simply play games for fun.

Oh well, I suppose it takes all sorts.

I'm probably going to have to take my time, unfortunately I will be away at college...i probably wont be able to finish the game on one character until winter break.

Henchies are ALWAYS better than Humans in their AI...They follow targets, They are master interupters, The ward using one actually sets them in the backline, etc etc.

Only problem is their skill sets, and weird rezzing habits. Apart from weird Glitching with paths.

Say what you would be interested in playing.
You would probably have more success if you wait until Nightfall comes out, since we know so little right now. For example, you are looking for a party of 8, with professions laid out, but you can pretty much assume the starter area is going to have a smaller party size. In which case, you have to break up and arrange to meet up at some point in the storyline, which nobody knows anything about yet.

Both Prophecies and Factions start with groups smaller than 8. How will you handle that if they follow the same outline in Nightfall?

I am assuming it will follow similar lines to the other games and roups will be even in numbers, presumably it will be similar to factions starting at 4 then jumping up to 8.

so
Group1: Warrior, Ele, Necro, Monk
Group2: Dervish, Ranger, Paragon, Monk

Organisational problems will be handled over vent, (i.e. when to meet, how to solve difficult puzzles if we are still split.)

If all else fails I will have to find just one or two otheers and take henchies.

As I stated before, while henchies may be superior to many players, when compared to an experianced group of players wth proper organisation they are very mediocre. Experianced is the key poin there. Good players will always do it faster and better then henchies.

I know this from when I was in one of the first 20 or so people to finish the game. Players were much better in the late areas of the game then because they had to be good to have proceeded so far so fast. As time went on the pugs I ended up with on consective characters have degraded in quality on average quite drastically. I enjoyed going through the game quickly, doing my best to beat it. (Not to mention profiting heavily from the sale of an end game green 100k +50 ecto for shiros blades is more then I would of made from farming for the same duration.)

I don't do it out of competitiveness. I just enjoy pushing myself to see how well I can do somthing. In my opinion Guild Wars PvE is more fun when its more fast paced.

Besides I will be on break from Uni, so plenty of spare time.

If you replace the ranger with a mesmer then I'll join...

*sigh* I'll just stand over here if you ever change your mind^^.

This might be interesting, I'll keep watch on this if this gets organized I can fill any one of the positions you may need.
This also depends on the release date. If its during a school week I couldn't stay up 2 days straight while going to school and playing GW.

And about henchies. Henchmen may be superior to some pugs. Compared to any decent player henchmen are terrible. Sure they may be fast but they have AI not a brain. They don't know what to do when put in a situation that is not in their program. Henchmen will never be as good as a decent human. The same way that robots will never be as good as a human. (sure they can do one thing fast but if they encounter something that was not expected they will not be able to think) Okay end rant : D. Enough about henchies being the best because they certainly are not!

you really think having such a 'typically balanced' team is really that essential? A healer is nice, and we all know that MMs are useful for 90% of the game... sure warriors are good tanks- but so are dervishes. Likewise, a mesmer could EASILY replace any of those. Two monks? Maybe once you get halfway through the game...

personally, If I were to do this, Id take one monk and seven anythings (which would probably be like 4 dervishes, 2 paragons, and a mesmer/ranger/necro/ele)

i bet you a team of all dervishes and paragons would have a higher survival rate... especially considering many of us experienced players already have our core class characters.

Id like to say id race you to the finish, but Ill probably get my paragon to level 20 and spend the next 6 months in RA (not literally, but you get the idea)

Although, I will try to message you if i can remember to-> with a focused group, I might be able to stay focused myself!

And... I do plan on finally making a Ranger primary with my 3rd extra slot... so maybe it wont be TOO hard to get experienced people who want to make a core class for the first time... only time will tell.

Considering everyone and their mothers will be playing dervish, why not just make an 8 man power-derv team?

Its not that I wont take mesmers, Its just that I added the first things which came to mind, Im sure the ranger could be replaced with a mesmer if nessercary, and I wanted at least One of each new profession and 2 monks. so thats half the team already.

I selected the other classes above due to their versatility (Or in the case of the MM and warrior their sheer effectiveness.)
