i think it would be nice if we could preorder through the in game store and just have a pre-order key sent to us if we don't want the extra box and disks.

The only reason you pre-order games is so that you're guarunteed a game when it comes out. You don't nned to do this for an online store. And there are issues with pre-ordering key codes online...

However, it would be a cool idea to get that early-access key to be purchaseable, if they decide to have another early access event.

I think there's some merit in the idea. Perhaps they'll only be a set number of game keys available through online purchase? How about early ordering so when it's released your copy is available the second you open the game opposed to having to go through the payment options and verification at that point? Gives incentive to NCSoft not to have to totally rely on third-party sellers and shipping mishaps?

For the most part, it does seem unnecessary for a pre-order, however there could be some perks and uses for pre-ordering it through the online store.

Payment and verification takes 5-15 minutes, and any additional time depends on how slow your internet connection is, that's not really an incentive to initiate an online pre-order package.

There would be an unlimited number of keys available from the online store, because they would have their own key generator that automatically generates a key for you to use. There's no real reason for them to put a limit as to how much they sell if they are in the business to make money.

Just a thought. Mainly along the lines of what Mtank325 stated.

Having the prelease available would be nice. And I'm just guessing that the store would be swamped the day nightfall is released, just like when it first came out, so being able to pre-order does have its merits.

PlayNC defines this newest pre-release as a "retail package." My guess is they will in fact put it in the online store the day it is to be on store shelves. Putting it out earlier I believe would merely infuriate their third party retailers and as it is just a matter of sending a key after payment is verified, there is no need to pre-order it.

Pre-ordering for retailers is just a means for them to guarantee that there will be sufficient quantities in stock the day of release and to make sure you get a copy.

All that said is I hope its in the online store too. I'm getting a bit tired of the pre-order game and wouldn't mind just buying a key directly.
