What Materials To Stock Up On.

Well, Guild Wars is getting super boring for me. Nightfall is coming out in about 2 months, so I have to keep myself busy. Everyone knows the first week or so of Nightfall is going to be sheer hell in the material market. Merchants will be sold out of a majority of materials. So, what do you think is smart to stock up on? I'm currently thinking steel, iron, cloth and tanned will be much needed materials. What do you think will be needed and smart to stock up on?

unless you really need the potential profit on materials i would take a break as i personally play for fun and i have other things to do than be bored

as for materials i am simply salvaging everything common.

cloth
wood
hides
dust
iron ingots
everything else as it shows up

the basics will be needed

I'm almost always on guru, so I play GW along with it. I plan on buying 15k for my warrior and dervish when NF comes out, so I need the money

This is logical. They can be crafted so Tanned Hide would be good to stock up on.

Rubies and Saphires may make an appearence.

Stock up on it all, you can really never have too much. Especially with 6+ RP characters.

Stock up on ectos and obsidian shards, then you can afford to buy whatever other materials you may not have. I have plenty of everything but saphires and rubies myself, I'd like more of those for some reason...

Don't forget you will have to equip up to 4 of your companions too for each of your characters. I doubt it has been confirmed how you will equip them, but you might as well assume you need to craft items for them and be pleased when you don't need the extra material then the other way around.

After I saw the madness at the start of factions, i learned a couple things for chapter releases. Materials are going to be hard to find. I remember when i was selling cloth and tanned hides for 27g a piece So the best thing to get is a way to get different materials from the same item. Enter minatour horns.

Minatour horns that you get in the desert, turn into different armor. Different armor turns into different materials for each char type.
So getting a ton of horns is you best way to maximize your choice of stocking power. why get 1000 cloth when you get 250 minatour horns and it will do the same thing Also saves on space that way.

But stock up on steel for the basic warrior armors everyone is going to want , and i predict cloth is going to be for dervish.

Also dont stock up on ectos and shards just yet...... right before nightfall people are going to sell their precious rare materials for cash lowering the price. Can you say ectos around 4-5k because i can.

Hope this helps a bit

Oh boy. If I have to pay for their equipment, skills, etc. then they'd better be giving me all their drops.

Alesia's been stealing my drops for a while now and is too cheap to buy any new skills or equipment.

The release of factions surprised the crap out of me. So, learning from that I'm hoarding materials. I hit the materials storage limit on a few things and created a brand new character to keep them on.

Personally, the jump in demand for materials reminds me of times when snow storms are predicted here. People go out and buy out bread, milk, and eggs like they would never get to the store again. Its the same thing ingame, even though I don't partake in this activity when snow storms are predicted I am stocking up on materials ingame like they'll never come back in stock again. I might stop hoarding for awhile and just bring my assassin and ranger over to Nightfall and watch the pandemonium.

Also Raca137 thats a nifty idea you have with the collector armor. I might try it just to say I tried it. Good ideas FTW

Arkantos, of all people, shouldn't you know better then asking a question that's been asked before?

I actually suspect glittering dust to make an appearance as an armour crafting material. But, I am probably wrong. Cloth, Bone, Steel, Iron, Tanned Hide Squares, Silk and Leather (both types) would probably be the best to horde for now. And mule characters are a must to fit all your materials. This should be a great source of income for the prepared, and ecto's look to be uncommonly low coming into the Nightfall release, so stock up or even buy from other players and hold on to them for the price to rebound.

if you are teh ub3r moderator, why didnt you just post this in the thread that is already going on for this exact topic?

ill post my second idea here i guess:

Ive started buying sapphires and rubies- anet says they will keep them rare, so if they are in fact used for nightfall (they might not be, ya know) itll pay itself off to have a few dozen of them. I dont have the patience for regular farming, so I usually just take my Necro to ToPK, and use my money earned to get like one or two a day.
