Just giving this old thread a bump
Two of my XPS laptop's gaming lights failed, so I had Dell Tech support come out and replace them under warranty, along with the palm rest (my palms wore thru the magnesium finish), the black display cover (put some nicks in it due to carelessness), and upgraded the T2500 Core Duo CPU to a T7600 Core2 Duo (got it at an insane price). The blue painter's tape got replaced with clear contact paper... looks much nicer now
Before:

After:

Not installing Vista yet... still too flakey for some games. I'm waiting for SP1.

Got it about a month ago, and runs beautifully
But as many have said, Vista does have problems with some games. It's kind of annoying. Otherwise Vista is great.

the only thing still the same there is the motherboard, power supply, and the case. My next upgrade will be a new motherboard which will require me to leave my poor 7 year old 1337 case behind
I will miss the suck look to it but the wonderful working guts. The best part will be the new power supply i have sitting next to me, a gold plated 680W ;DI
Custom build from scratch case has sreved its time but sitll works well guts are:
intel e6600 c2d (2.4ghz stock overclocked 3.6ghz)
asus P5W DH Deluxe motherboard
2gb ddr 800 4-4-4-12 tmings to lazy to attempt to tighten them for more performance
7900gt not overclocked atm either card is dying or bad drivers havent got around to changing drivers to lazy
20.1 " SCEPTRE lcd 1680x1050 res 5ms response
X-Fi sound card
apoggie cpu waterblock maze 4 gpu block DD-d5 pump and '77 bonnivele heatere core as a radiator
simple $50 5.1 suround sound 150w max (yes speakers are not in 5.1 now but where when comp was in basement when i got the suround sound)
overview side
close up side view
sky view of entier computer area
mouse is shot the feet on it are worn down completly 1 is comnpletly gone wearing into the actual bottom now
paper works well as a mouse pad and as a note pad when i get calls and take a message.
my computer is 4 FEET from my bed

Sorry I don't have any photos (cameras dead) but this will have to do. This is the good thing about not having a girlfriend, you can spend it on things that matter.
The screen I use
http://sp.sony-europe.com/media/8/3979
The computer part is a custom machine. Basic run through of the stats.
And the Alienware Area-51 ALX Pure Power Desktop at full spec.

I am by no means rich. Just a decent salary with which I can afford the monthly repayments on the bank loan. I regret nothing.
