whats really going to suck....

this is going to be like the first few months after the realease of factions.
EVERYONE is going to be either paragon or dervish....just like everyone was asassin..no one will ever find a monk or stable group. all the new spears, sythes, swords and everything are going to be RIDICULOUSLY expensive only to have the price drop thousands a month later. and, who can forget, the people that have no guild wars expirience and jump blindly into nightfall.
what im going to do is go straight into the game with my original characters back from prophecies. save up gold. dont buy anything, or very little then about a month later buy things for MUCH cheaper. when the paragon and dervish hype (mostly paragon from what ive been hearing) is over, then ill make one so maybe ill have a chance at finding a group. so anyone think im right on this?

I am doing something similar. I'm starting off with an Elona born Mes, then I'll see what is going on before I decide to use my Tyria Necro, my Cathan Ele or make a Derv or Paragon.

What may also happen is that some will certainly rush the game in hope for finding a spot to chestrun and then establish the Nightfall market with their own prices. Easy way to make money when something is new.
Best is to just wait couple weeks without purchasing anything major.

I'm going to be one of the many many dervishes running around but I'll be henching most things so I'm not worried about parties. In Factions I only needed a team for boreas seabed, raise palace, and imperial sanctum. Not worried about scythe prices as I can just use the prerelease scythe til prices drop.

I wont even BUY the game until I read some good reviews (and yes, I will buy it at a real store.....so I can have my instance gratification satisfied, and not get nerfed by pre-order shenanigans again----if I do indeed decide to make a purchase at all).....so I wont worry about what materials are in high demand until probably xmas....
Mrscoombes
Just like the first couple weeks of factions, the materials for dervish+paragon armor will be sold out at the traders >_<
Crimso
It wont be as bad with dervishes and paragons since theres the custom hero henchies you can make you'll be able to get monks no matter how many of the new classes there are.

The first thing I have in mind is getting me an A/D, actually

I honestly haven't decided yet. It would be easy to run my Warrior or Necro thorugh Elona first, and then my Dervish or Paragon second, but part of me wants to make a new class and try it out right away.
I guess it depends on how good the new profs are, and if I enjoy playing them or not.

This kinda thing will happen with every chapter. Meh what can ya do about it. I'll run all my chars at the same time for a lil bit, for variety. Then if I decide to make one of the new chars i'll take it all the way through. As it will be like this.
Paragon LFG
Paragon LFG
Dervish LFG
Paragon LFG im no noob
Dervish LFG
Ranger LFG

Personally, I'm going to make my first PvE Monk in Elona, and that char will be going through first.
Later, when the "OMG SCYTHE" has died down, I'll be making a sword-using Dervish and a Hammer-using Paragon... Just to shake things up. =)
I think the biggest problem will be people trying to advertise the customized henchies that they have. How do you even say that? "Paragon w/ War hench(Hammer) & Ele hench(Water/snare)..."
Might be tricky...

Gah, I hadn't even thought of that!
Wait until you have 3 heroes... we'll be reading whole novels of peeps LFG.
Guild Wars really needs another way to form parties...
GloryFox
Im thinking a party of 4-6 Paragons / Dervish will not be as bad as 4-6 Assassin /Ritualists. So unlike what happened on Shing Jea I think this will work out just fine.
Monk Mystic
yeah in the beggining assassins were really one trick ponies.(yay now their 2 trick ponies barrage ftw!) dervish and paragons(especially) have many different things that they could do so a group of 4 paragons/dervishes mixed plus a monk or so wouldnt be that bad.
joncoish
Ummm, well duh... it's a new game, with new professions. Obviously lots of people are going to want to try out the new classes, so get over it!
Hand of Ruin
*IF* I get nightfall I plan on exploring it on my warrior first, then my necro, and only then will I consider making a new character there. I'm kinda excited about the possabilites with W/P and maybe some nice W/D combos, and of course the ARMOR!
My warrior is my pride and joy, and he'll be the first to tote any new armor.
But yea I'm not really that interested in making a P/* D/*... just as I haven't bothered making an ass or a rit. More interested in them as 2ndary classes then primaries.

Tonev
I think everyone will find something that works for them with each class. That's not to say that people will not make a Dervish or Paragon to mess around with (see if it's too their liking).
I myself made a warrior/Monk in prophecies and haven't touched him or even wanted to mess around with him after trying out Necro/M and Rt/R, so it just depends on the person's likes/dislikes.
I for one know that the "Dervish" and "Paragon" classes both will be nerfed from what it was in the PvP preview and that in itself will make a lot of people not want to play them/shrugs.
New expansions are like having a new woman or car "after the first 100 drives it's becomes nothing more than a ride".

Shadow
That's the best part of the expantions.

On the upside, Paragons look more apealing than rits, and the dervish looks a bit more sturdy than sins.
Addone_Abaddon
according to wikipedia, a dervish is a type of muslim monk, OOO ANOTHER HEALER, or is that paragon

Once I get Nightfall, the first character I go through with will be my new Paragon. Just like how when you bring Tyrian characters to Cantha, they've already skipped a portion of the story(even if it's not that large.) Eh, I dunno, I guess I just have a thing about playing games the way they're suppost to be played. And in Guild Wars PvE, that would be starting a new character that continent and playing through said continent with said new character, not breezing through it, skipping half the story-line with a FoW armored Warrior.
Opeth11
At least I'll monk my way through the game first =/
That is, if I actually buy the game.

Yeah I learned my mistake from factions about that and still have yet to make an assassin or a ritualist. However I actually want to be one of the two classes this time around, not for popularity; actually for the feel of Nightfall. I will take my other characters through it as well, but understand that things will change in campaign four. I’m more independent and will try to stay away from groups (especially for certain quests). I love learning the learning curve first, more so then just being cool as a Devrish.
Yes and don’t start buy things at random when the game first comes out, (sell, don’t buy) it’s an obvious lesson I learned from factions.

Ill make a Dervish, i love the concept of that profession. Then i will get my monk there, and in due time my other characters, depending on my mood and on the motivation i can get ingame watching the performances of allies and foes. But definitely my dervish will be THE Elona character.
Id say dont worry, henchies are decent for questing, except if you monk because you cannot target and heal (i hate henchies coming back and surrounding me instead of attacking). In missions you can try out your heroes alone or with another friend, at least theoretically.
Time will tell, time will tell...

Four letters. M.O.N.K.
Monk is the best.

Hehe, to avoid the millions of dervishs and paragons, I plan on making an Elonian Mesmer...
Oh crap I'm not going to get into groups either. Custom heros and henchmen FTW!

I'll be making a Paragon and a Dervish to take up those two slots I get, and then probably a Ritualist with the one I'm gonna get from the bonus pack. I don't care how long it takes to get into groups; I didn't have that problem with my Assassin until late-game, and I'm hoping my Paragon will be the same. I'm taking him through first before I deal with my Dervish. And if I'm desperate, I'll just bring my Monk over from Cantha :P
Luckily, it seems people will be able to play these two classes better than most did with the sin and rit at the start of Factions, so even though there will be an excess, most should be decent at what they do.

Yeah, I do not see this problem even rivalling that of Assassins. Dervishes are plenty stout, and plenty capable at dishing out the hurt.

Meh.... Dervishes are going to be nerfed hardcore. Remember the D/Mo build used to dominate HA AND GvG? Well, Anet obviously had to find a way to stop it and so..... expect the dervishes to be as useless as a screendoor on a submarine!

I'll play through with my necro or warrior or both, then dervish, then my ranger
Medion
My ranger will be the first to go through Elona, if only because I already have difficulties with completing Factions twice so my ranger has completed it...don't wanna have that happen with Elona as well.
Mister_Smiley
I will start with Dev and go with the game for that. Then most likey will take a break and bring my warrior in and beat it too. Then make a Par and then ranger and the rest of my group. I might just make both new classes and go from their. But one way or another i will make both.

Retribution X-"They were. It's called, Backfire and Soul leach. They'd kill themselves."
LOL. A you don't have any idea how the D/Mo works do you? A dervish just CoP's all hexes and conditions and gets health and energy back and does lots of aoe damage. You can't just backfire and soul leech them.
I got so much faction that preview weekend I went UAX across prophecies and factions. D/Mo is way overpowered and needs to be reworked.

I'll probably zip on through with Monk first to explore as much as possible.. or maybe my ritualist we'll see. At the same time I'll probably create a new character but whether or not it will be a paragon, warrior, dervish, or something else
