Game running on directx8.0?

hello, i was wandering why in the "options" area it says "directx8.0" i know i have directx9.0c installed is there anyway i can run the game on it or whats this all about?

it shows

under Graphics.
-installed 9.0c before game.

The video card has to be a certain level for it to switch over to DX9. If the video card is older it will revert to DX8 automatically.
