Sound Problem - only hear Music =(

Hey everyone. Today is my first day playing Guild Wars and I must say, I love it!

But I am having an issue here folks. And if anyone can help me I'd greatly appreciate it.

Ok, I am having abit of a sound problem. All I hear is the music while in game. I have tried adjusting my sound and everything.

I also believe I have the latest driver for my sound card. I am using a Yamaha Legacy DS1 WDM soundcard. Yes, I know it's old. Quite old, but sound plays fine on every other game I have ever played including WoW/EQ2 ect.

I just hope I can get my sound effects working guys. It's quite boring just listening to the music.

There are issues with Guild Wars sound and older cards I believe. They are working on that aspect constantly. Check to see if your sound card handles DirectX 8, or even DX9. I believe they updated GW to work with DX9, but that messed up all the DX8 users. They have since resolved most of the problem.

Wow, I never thought that would have been the problem.

I have dual OS on this computer and I switched to XP ( have DX 9.0c ) and I hear everything now!
