I think there is a router issue somewhere on the backbone for the east coast, How do I find this out?

I have lagged out of guild wars at the same time as someone from another east ern state. Is there a way to tell if there is a malfuctioning router?

I think you're right altho im not sure where the locality of the problem is i'm pretty sure its somewhere in the US as to my knowledge EU servers are unaffected.

For two weeks i've had connection problems to guildwars in the form of the dreaded 007 and now finally after two weeks of suffering i cannot connect to the game atall, error 058. I can't find anything wrong with my connection in the form of any other problems. Web, Email, News, etc are all working perfectly as far as i am aware and i've even succumbed to the rip out your router one stop solution to all networking problems to better diagnose network issues..

The only thing i have is plaync acknowledging there being a problem but they dont have any details or solutions.

Level3 and Time Warner. Plain And Simple.

There are reports of Verizon updating its network. Alter.Net is apart of Verizon now(Bought with MCI. And I think that it is ANET's ISP as well)

Time Warner is doing the same and is having trouble. They also recently took over some new areas and those areas have had internet blackouts while they upgraded.

Bellsouth also recently announced that they were putting in some brand new DNS servers in addition to upgrading customers to 6Mbps.

The net is turbulent right now.

Oh, did I also mentioned that Vista RC1 is out and their testing just expanded. That is gonna be another thing taxing the networks.

Run a tracert from your box to anet's servers.

If you see long response times from something in the middle, you know about where the problem might be.

Then, you sit back and... probably not do anything about it. Because the backbone companies (actually, any ISP) have enough monitoring equipment in place to know exactly when and where their problems are. If they let the problem persist, you're sure not going to change their minds. Unless, maybe, you represent at least a few million dollars.

You can send that info to anet though, if you want. They seem pretty keen about getting problems that affect guildwars fixed, wether the problem is in their network or not. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember someone saying they welcome every piece of data that can help them narrow down where/what the problem is. And Anet carries a lot more weight than you personally do, when it comes to making ISP's fix any particular problems. Especially if it turns out to be their ISP.

Or, heck, maybe you'll find it's you. There's all sorts of things that can cause these vague timeout/code58 errors.
