Is it me, or are an AWFUL lot of purple items dropping compared to gold? I rarely do chest runs. In fact, I only decided to give it a shot in the last couple of days. I have no trouble at all getting to chests, but is fewer than 1 gold drop per 15 chests normal?

I even tried changing areas, but the rate is the same. Today I moved from the Kurzick areas and tried Naphui (the only Canthan city area I'd bother trying to farm for items, since I don't like plagueborn). Just burned through 15 keys without a single gold drop.

Similar experiences? Normal? I know I got more gold drops in the Deep... maybe I should just go back there, but I'm sick of zodiacs.

Opening chests in mission areas is about as pointless as opening them in Ascalon, that many people go through there the drops suck.

I think this has been beaten to death so many times but it's all about luck (meaning it's random) so basically... "It's you".

7 golds in a row
18 purples in a row

yeah, its really random. it does even out in the end, but you do obviously have a higher chance to find purples than golds. would be silly the other way, wouldnt it?

drop rate in most areas is 33%. means 1 gold every 3 chests... in the long term this is proven... u cant expect to open 3 chests and have 1 gold everytime... u can have 10 goldies in a row, u can have 10 purples...

I'd love to know where people get these figures from!

What's that Disraeli/Mark Twain quote again?

Yes, of course I expect purple to be more common than gold. I just didn't expect them to be *this* much more common. Maybe it's only more noticable to me now when I'm actively focussing on chest drops...

*shrugs*

Thanks for the replies, anyway.
