Keyboard changed from azerty to qwerty
Insomnia
My keyboard changed to qwerty today, only in GW tho - outside of GW, my keyboard is normal azerty. I must have pressed some weird key combination and i can't find any info on it. I tried the search function and found a similar case, but no solution. Can anyone help me?

Must have changed some setting from Euro (or whatever) to American keyboard in GW by accident.
gamecube187

Terra Xin
does the euro keyboard run azerty??
how weird is that... (Tries to restrain from saying how americans drive on the wrong side of the road)

I have no idea, just assumed so. /shrug
I think different countries have different layouts sometimes, though. That's as far as I can go there, really.

I couldn't imagine using an AZERTY keyboard. Now I know the TRUE challenge for modern-day European immigrants...

I looked up azerty, apparently used in Belgium and France and other countries near use that keyboard layout.
It would either have something to do with where you purchased GW... actually that's the only thing I can think of.
oh wait I see what the problem may be
Anet doesn't have support for different keyboard layouts, so all games adhere to the 'qwerty' layout. The solution is simple, you just go to the options menu and change the keys so that they fit the azerty format. And it will only change it for GW, not for your whole computer^^

A well washed european here and this is the first time I've heard of azerty. Guess it must only be those French oddballs.

Probably pressed ALT+SHIFT by accident. Those keys swap between locales in windows XP, also affecting the keyboard layout. Locale settings are program specific, so I'd guess that's what happened. :b
He prolly had done that already, since it had been working up until recently according to the OP.. So I'm betting on accidental layout change, especially since that's really easy to do in GW where shift and alt are pretty vital keys, and pressing them together makes windows swap locale to something else, probably English which is the default in all windows installations.
You can see it for yourself by adding French onto Windows languages (Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options -> Languages (tab) -> Details... (button) -> Add... (button) -> Input language: French (dropdown)), and pressing alt+shift to swap to French layout after that. Few keys swap places.

Well, my keyboard sometimes switches from quertz to querty - and the only solution I found so far is restarting GuildWars as this only affects the game, not Windows.

Just randomly I thought I'd add that T Y P E W R I T E R is the longest word you can right just on the top row. But only with qwerty unfortunately

Uk uses Qwerty.
I remember taking about 15 mins trying to work out how to get the '@' symbol on a spanish keyboard once.

I use QWERTY and I'm european. Though pressing cntrl+shift let's you switch between keyboard layouts.

I'm using Swedish keyboard setup & English language. Occasionally after playing GW, the keyboard is set to UK british (I've set my locality to Ireland, to get euro symbol for currency as well as proper metric units).
I'm guessing the game occasionally get a bit messed up wrt locality, so when it exits it resets keyboard mapping in accordance with locality, not your earlier preferences. In other words, a minor, intermittent, bug.
The solution is simple: go in to control panel, locality, and change your keyboard layout back to whatever you want it to be. Or enable the language bar in Windows, and change it from the taskbar.

alt + shift does the trick. ( happens alot when I'm on vent ( shift ) and I wanna see the enemies )
The only countries that run azerty are France and Belgium.

alt shift triggers on your keyboard I think, not your OS

Ok thx for all the help, Alt+shift worked. And Yes, keyboards in Belgium and France run an azerty-setup as far as I know.
