I made a post in the "General Game Discussion". It was about an accomplishment I was proud of, and my thoughts on reaching that accomplishment. I've posted on other sites, and not had a problem. I've gotten "gratz"'s and light discussion from posting similar topics on other sites in the past in their "General Discussion" areas. It's a forum, a community, a place to discuss things and form a community. This is an excellent type of thread for adding flavor to the community... a thread that will likely be very short and off page 1 within a couple days.
I didn't see a better place to put such a topic, but most forums have them available.
What disturbs me even more is the fact that after I saw the topic closed, I made an even more important topic questioning why something like that would be closed. I had mentioned that members of my guild [Cries of Frustration] had seen topics close/disappear because of a moderators personal disagreement. The fact that this censorship exists reflects very poorly on Guru. It reflects a little poorly on GW as well. Not because this is their forum, but for all intents and purposes, it might as well be. This is the forum GW posts on and reads far more than the other forums. Moderators should be unbiased in their views like news reporters should be unbiased in their views. Granted my specific example was not one of these cases, but I believe it is a problem with the Guru community.
Neither of the threads in this example contained profane language, personal attacks, or were just blatant excuses for arguing.
IMPORTANT:
I am NOT bashing Guru. I am trying to give constructive criticism and offer a warning. If anything, this post can help Guru have a good forum, which the most popular forum (for GW) should strive to be.
