Will Nightfall be available on the online store right away?

I'm kinda hoping for a Gaile response to this, but if any of you can link me to a source that tells me yes or no for sure then that will work out too.

Will Guild Wars: Nightfall (Standard Edition of course) be available on the online store on the 27th of October? Will there be a delay in putting it on the online store so that retailers will sell more?

I would imagine it would show up in the ingame store shortly after 12 a.m. pst Oct 27 (since all the events seem to go by pst). If it doesn't, that would largely defeat the advantage of the ingame store.

Not sure about this one. If it did, why would anyone buy the game at real stores? Why not just download it online? The retailers would get pretty pissed about this I think.

the only reason to NOT use the store would be if you are getting the Collectors Edition.

You can get the presale at any retailer (or online) and unless you have already found a deal online for a combo package, I suggest everyone uses the In-Game store if you have a debit card.

No lines, no traffic, no empty shelves. Its all good. No longer will the CEO of eb games sit in his leather chair and make tons of money off of us buying games from his little stores. Cut out the middle man, ANet will appreciate it.

Perhaps they should offer some kind of incentive to buy chapters from the STore...?

I bought my Factions key online from the NCSoft store an hour or so after the midnight pacific start time (after the end of the one day pre-order head start), so I assume it'll be similar for Nightfall with the online store. In other words, history suggest no preorder or head start (if there is a head start) but available immediately on day one.

That would make sense, i'd still like to hear a response from a dev though.

what's the point of getting a dev response? there's no reason for the online store to sell their game later than the retailers SINCE THEY OWN THE GAME! You have to remember the fact that retailers have boxed purchases and the online version does not, whereas both the online store and the retailer will have the same price being sold. If you like the materials from GW, then retailers are cheaper. If you dont want to leave your home, then online is cheaper.

Again, there is no REASON for the online store to sell their game later than retailers.

Except that a company like gamestop could say hey! you're competing with our sales! We're gonna pull your product! That is unless you hold off release in your online store.

You or I have no idea what their arrangement is, regardless of what may seem to be common sense suggests, which is why I want a dev response.

but no other companies do that as far as I know. Understand three things:

1. The prices between the online store and the retailers are most likely going to be the same (as they are at the moment.
2. Retailers come with a box, a CD, a Booklet and a collectors activation card. Along with that, only retailers can sell the collectors edition of a particular chapter, because it comes with merchandise that is advertised as being physical material (concept art book, cloth art etc). Remeber when factions came out, Anet had greatly undersupplied their wares for the collectors edition because they wern't expecting it to sell out so fast (i think)
3. Online stores can only accept credit cards, the client has to be downloaded, and you do not get any booklets or CDs to make installation easier in the future.

Retailers shouldn't have any trouble competing with the Online Store, that store applies to a very focused group of people, especially when buying the game from retailers is often more appealing.

Say you want to order a campaign from the store.. do you have to wait for them to send you a key or do they email you one or whatnot? Then send the package later?

If you mean the GW ingame store, the serial key is automatically added to your account instantly and they wont send you a box or anything.

How does that work then? What if you wanted another account, and say you already had prophecies and you wanted another prophecies account?

Can you not order it from the store?

You couldn't get it from the ingame store in that case; you could probably get it through the plaync store though.

I'm still going to buy mine from Best Buy because I'm going to get the preorder. So its either buy the pre order for 10 dollars then buy the game from In-Game store for 60 dollars or go buy it at Best Buy and have the game cost 50-10 dollars.

I love how you feel the need to be a condecending prick to try and make your point. What you say makes sense, but that doesn't make it a FACT. It's people like you who are so sure of something and convince other people that you know for sure, and then what happens? The opposite, and then you suddenly jump ship. Unless you can link me to some proof, or a dev topic, please post things that are condusive to the conversation and not just you spatting off "I'm right! believe me! pleeeease believe me!"

When I bought from the NCsoft store they e-mailed me the key and I entered it in manually into the account of my choice. I'm not sure how it works now that the store is integrated into the game interface (though since you have to log in to enter the store, I assume you are buying it for the account you're logged in with).

My understanding is that they intentionally don't undercut the retail price or offer it any earlier than retail because they have agreements with retailers to actually carry it and give them shelf space. They can't afford to piss off retail (Walmart, EB, etc), I bet less than %1 of their sales are made online.

My gf will be buying the retail package and will let me molest her box contents, so I don't mind paying full price for instant access and presumably giving a few extra dollars to ArenaNet instead of some middleman.

I dont think it will be availiable right away or within the next day...i think its safe to assume that anet also wants to market guild wars to possible new players, and thats what retail does. If they make it availiable online, not many people will buy in stores, and nobody buy in stores = store wont carry, not in stores = no marketing possibilities. I dont know how many guild wars commercials you've seen, but ive seen none lol
