Is there any legitimate use of a shortbow in PvP?
I've got Swiftscale's green shortbow:
max dmg req 9
15% more dmg in a stance
5:1 Vamp
+30 hp
I was thinking something based around Tiger's Fury. However, I'm not sure the short distance would really be that great.
I do a fair amount of AB which tends to have targets very spread out.
Any advice would be appreciated.

If you were running a ranger that had Apply or Melandru's Arrows, then using a shortbow would be optimal to spread conditions, IMHO. You can easily switch back to a Recurve for Interrupting or Crippling a moving target or a long range bow if you were ganking or needed a few hits on a retreating foe.
So you could use a shortbow easily during 4 on 4 engagements in AB's, and bring another bow to help you chase down stragglers.

Yeah, I was thinking along those lines too. I've been bringing both long and recurve bows to AB on my ranger. I like the long for cripshotting from a distance. I've usually got extra range due to map height variation and it works out well.
At this point I'm thinking of going for a rapid fire type build with added damage from the vamp bow and a prep.
Given the large number of people that seem to run with enchants Melandru's may be a good option.

Its a good bow for a Choking Gas ranger. Flurry been kept up almost constantly. I've never understood why people ask the rangers to use 16 Marksmanship though.
