I haven't seen this answered yet:

If a friend of mine has the regular Prophecies game and buys the Factions PVP Pack, would he have access to Fort Aspenwood and Alliance Battles with his PVP characters?

If it's sooo lame; then all of you that don't have it shouldn't want it. Yet mysteriously; so many keep asking for it......

I expect many ppl didnt think or know about it when the game was released (i didnt) and they saw it and now they want it...nothing wrong with that.

Some like me refuse to pay for something that has no real effect.

i would for the simple reason it is a LIMITED edition for those willing to pay more without knowing how good it will actually be.

if you make it available later as an upgrade most people will wait to see if it is super good or so-so.

it is the point of having a limited item that wont be devalued by everybody jumping on the bandwagon later.

if everybody had Divine Aura it would not be special at all instead of a neat extra

I like PvE. I like PvP. Why cant everyone else like both? ._.
Why are people so stuck on one side or the other?

< romantic illusion > I wish everyone liked PvE and PvP equally. < /romantic illusion >
<smashing reality>PvE is Co-op. PvP is not (well ok it's one side vs another but you get the drift</smashing reality>

Trying to "encourage" Co-op players to engage in more adverserial non-coop gameplay is like trying to douse the sun out with water. It's just not going to happen, or if it does it will be fairly limited in scope. The same could be said of people who prefer PvP. Coop and PvP are rather different gameplay styles and mentalities, and trying to melt them together isn't really going to work.

Factions I think has fairly conclusively proven this - the tumbleweeds bouncing across Jade Quarry and, to a lesser extent Fort Aspenwood can attest to that.

They should have just kept it like Prophecies really as far as the "classic" version goes. I much prefer the idea of keeping them reasonably seperate; you can have the coop/PvE game, or the PvP only game (with unlocks) or the PvP game from the classic version (without unlocks)

Bull. It was done for PvE-certainly, ABs played a part in bringing the problems with minion masters to the devs' attention, but the nerf was substantially done for PvE reasons. Unless you have some proof otherwise?

Edit: Also, a significant reason for the EoE nerf was due to PvE-specifically Grawl farming and the chance of EoE bombing out your own team when fighting human-type mobs in PvE.

Ahh well i can buy either at the store (or online), so i don't know how LIMITED that makes it. But paying an extra 70 just to have glowing hands isn't my idea of a good time, hehe. I think alot of people just don't give a crap about collectors or the emotes, i just happen to be one of those other types of wierdos. I would have bought factions collectors (although i only have a level 18 rit that i play like, never) it would have been a waste of money, but they botched it up even being able to buy it during release. Oh well...

Gaile: I'd like to re-iterate Red Locust's question from pages ago:

The news of all these skill unlocks allowing play of PvP is GREAT news for new PvPers, and may well allow others to try the game. The question he posed was whether the runes and item ulocks associated with the chapter were included.

To be clear, this is important for a new PvPer, as the access to runes and item upgrades is essential in PvP, and as with skills takes a long time to unlock. If the answer is "yes", then I am absolutely thrilled! If the answer is "Good question, we hadn't really thought about it!" I am still really happy, as it might come about!

Saving time and making the game accessible for new players is super, but if you buy Nightfall and the Prophecies+Factions PvP access packs and don't get runes/mods for them you'll still need to get a lot of stuff - since there are 4 or 5 attributes per class, with 4500 Faction worth of runes each that's 144,000 Faction just for the runes, the mods add onto that (and you need them for staves, daggers, swords, axes, hammers, bows) at 1000 per low level unlock, another 1000 pper high level - it's still substantial. I don't doubt that people can do it, and it's much more reasonable than trying to grind it all out, but it would certainly be nice (and not altering the PvE world ) if the associated unlocks came with the chapter (i.e. assassin/ritualist runes and dagger mods with Factions PvP unlocks)

To Epinephrine:

What does seem questionable is; as the PUP's will soon allow you to use the skills without buying the full campaign; if someone bought the Factions PUP and got the skills; would they even be able to unlock the dagger tangs and what not? As the PUP has of yet only encompassed skills alone could they access the pvp runes/upgrades without the full campaign..... I guess it's common sense that they would have to be able to access them; but that just leaves the question of whether or not they will come unlocked....

those have been answered

first on the runes/mod/etc being unlocked at this time no but Gaile is checking to confirm

remember these are skill packs not UAX packs

on getting the runes/tangs/etc you (as stated) use your new skills to earn faction and buy the upgrades in the usual manner

Thanks Loviatar, I understand the difference between UAS and UAX, I was just pointing out that for a new player it is still a lot to try to unlock, easily 200-300k faction. Few PvPers I know bother trying to unlock all runes/tangs etc. in PvP - they farm runes in some area until they have the majority of runes and a good selection of weapons, and finish it up with faction. That may not be an option for folks buying one of these (since they may not PvE at all) so I wanted a clear picture of what was to come. I did a quick comb through from Red Locusts point onward and saw no mention of it by Gaile, but I guess I missed it.

It is the difference between having all skills available for 25 missions instead of 3 missions. Seems huge to me.

That is exactly what I was thinking at first, but the more I thought about it, the less sense it made and...... oh well. I'm not going to buy it anyway so I'll just stop thinking about it.

You've paid over $100 for Guild Wars (C1+C2) thus far, with another $50 comming up in a month (C3). I fail to see how this is a money-free way of unlocking skills...?

It's money free in the sense that even if he didn't unlock any skills, he still would have bought the campaign. In owning the campaign, he happens to unlock the skills without having to spend any extra money.

Doesn't it strike you as odd when they are aiming a PvP edition at the PvP crowd, and all they want is a level playing field, the PvP edition designed to level the playing field still doesn't level the playing field?
