Well simple question really.. will we be able to play male Dervish and female Paragon in the PvE preview event?

I really hope we can so I can start on my Dervish and get to play some since I might not get to when the game is officially released.

If this has been answered somewhere else please close this but just using google on the site didn't help me find what I was looking for and the site doesn't have its own useful search engine.

Well in the past 2 pve previews, it's been an option. Seeing as the end of this month is close to release I'm fairly certain that we will get full access to both male and females.

We also got to play both genders of Rts and assassins in the factions preview. Though the artwork should be close enough to finished for both now for that to be possible.

I just checked guildwars.com and the login screen. Its not on eaither of them. I do remember some people guessing that thats when the preview would be, but they were only guessing.

The PCGamer with the minipet says that thats when the event will be. I'm just guessing that this will be the correct date, because it also tells you exactly what quest and who to talk to, to receive the minipet. It also says that you can redo the quest if you get your minipet during the preview event.

Seems like a lot to know about a preview event, to just be a guess on the magazines part.

There is a minipet that you can get during the event? Or is it the one that you need the magazine for?

And anyone know if we can finally be a female paragon or a male dervish?

It's the one included with the magazine. I would assume you can be female Paragon and male Dervish as they were both at GWFC(I think..) so they should be ready and there's no reason they wouldn't be available.

ummm, I've never participated in any of the PvE Preview Events before. What exactly does it let you do? You start the game and.... does your account save the data and you can resume wherever when Nightfall is officially released?

The preview lets you experience a sort of cross-section of the game. Play around a bit, see the sites, and get a feel for it. If you don't delete your character, you can resume play with it when you buy the retail version of Nightfall but it will be reset to lvl 1. Also keep in mind you will only be able to make new Elonian characters, can't take existing characters over for the preview. During the preview, you can't access storage and all items/gold you aquire will be deleted.

Is the event for the PCGamer readers only, or for everyone ?

Yep and they got a lot of bad feedback about it. I don't think they will do that type of thing again.. and even if they do I can start working out my builds and work of PvE strategies.

For the Prophecies beta, all that got saved was my name. My character was reset to level 1 and lost all armor/skills/etc.

Even if we do start at level 1, any progress you make will mean pretty much nothing at the end of the event.

Except of course for Skill and Item unlocks. Oh and finding out what materials will be used for the new class armors.

Its always level 20 for PvE beta events and I do not think it will change.
The preview will show mainland and not the "pre sear, biggener area"

Mobs are hard there and thats why we need to be level 20.

if i do remember the beta evet on the prophecies campaign you build a character from lv0 and started in ascalon, it changed in factions where you started lv20 with elite skill and going out of market took you to pongmei valley
i think this event will be like the prophecies campaign youll begin a character from lv0 cuz like prophecies this chapter will be pve oriented, but its all just guess.

i really think this team is the best dev team.

Off topic, but yeah, I was uber-pissed at how much of Factions takes place in the damn city.

I couldn't wait until I got to the "cool" areas, and once I did, it was way to short.

no. youre wrong. I was on the beta for the Original, and you started in pre-searing at level 1.

I didnt take part in the Factions pve-> but that is the one that you started out at level 20.

Will we also get another run at the PvP characters? Like I said my only experience with the beta-tests were for the original game.

Id rather just play pvp all weekend then work on some crap that I will just have to do all over again.

I dont think I got my GW:Prophs preorder items til AFTER retail release... what about for Factions? was it the same deal? Or can we expect to use our sunspears n bottle-openers?

I wouldn't be too sure Horseman.

The beta preview events are meant more for beta testing then giving us something fun to do. The community can test and find out bugs, overpowered stuff and others things faster then the devs.

The Devs most likely would want to test dervishs and paragons in PvE and make sure that they don't make PvE too cheap.

For this reasons most likely we will start out at lvl 20.

Either way it doesn't matter this preview event may be the only time I get to play Nightfall for awhile.. so I'd like to start a Dervish and atleast get the feel and unlock as many skills as possible.

But back the the original topic: Will I be able to play a male Dervish?

With Factions, as soon as you entered the Pre order Access Codes and typed /preorder (with inventory closed) You could Use your Daggers and Staff.

Allthought Walking Around Ascalon with them was of no great advantage.

(lol Bottle openners, great its catching on! )

No it’s probably going to be a wide open PvE event, to the public (not just exclusive to PC gamer people). Considering last time with Factions looked like a small PvE event only for Guild War Alumni (I just wanted to use that word, I know it does not belong). Anyways the event grew to include all types of people from outside. I can’t wait until I at least start my Devrish and Pargon characters on there long insidious journey.
