What to do With All of My Golds?
MasterThrawn
I have many, many golds that I just cannot bring myself to get rid of. The reason being it is too much of a pain to try and sell in game, Guru takes too long, and often no one replies. I mean they are not all perfect, but many are VERY good. I can't being myself to merch them, but now what? Do I give them away, maybe I'll just give everything to guildies. Whatever - they are taking up all of my inventory space. That and all the Greens I have leftover from SF. Anyone else have a suggestion for this? I have 6 chars (one of them is a mule), and all of them are out of room.

RUMOR has it that in NightFall you can choose your salvage option when you salvage for a weapon Mod. I would hold your gold’s until Nightfall release and see if you can salvage those mods that might want. Hopfuly we will get some clairification on some RUMORs that are surfaceing soon.

I had the same problem. Here's what I did.
I sorted out all of the weapons I wanted to sell by profession, then I had a sale! I went to Ascalon City and started out with my extra monk weapons. My first in-game ad went like this : "MONK WEAPONS SALE - All max damage gold or green weapons, many nice mods! You're choice, 3k each! (that was about the average of what they were worth) I sold 6 of them in the space of 10 minutes. Then I went on to ele weapons, All the while keeping an eye for "WTB" spam for other items I had available. It worked so much quicker for me than trying to run multiple posts for different items.
This does help if you're not worried about getting as much as you can for something, espcially with the not-so-in-demand weapons.

Hmm - both of these are good suggestions. I guess I will wait to see what Nightfall has - but 3K would be a respectable price. I mean - as of right now I'm not too worried about gold. But if I need to buy more 15K armor... thanks for the tips!

i basically did what kook suggested

It's quite simple...
1. Anything that is really "perfect" - i.e. has a 15% damage modifier or has two perfect dual-modifiers (for shields and caster items) is worth selling either on the auction site or in game.
2. Anything that is "less than perfect" is either (1) trader material or (2) if you can't seem to do that, simply hold a massive clearance sale on the sell forum on this site. Everything has a b/o (buyout) of 2K, which should result in an immediate sale. Anything leftover after that is merchant material.
Green items should fall into #2 above - but I would simply discount them at HALF the Price Check forum thread price. They'll get snatched up in a hurry at that rate.

i use to just give them away even the odd 15% which wouldnt sell..problem is even giving them away takes time cause not everyone likes handouts

Next time you are in a FOW pug just randomly drop items ... there is always one scavenger in a pug.

I might be interested in buying some monk gear if you have any and decide to sell the stuff anyway.
PM me in-game (or here) if you're interested.

I'm pretty much in the same boat, with highest req shields but +30 health and/or almost perfect dual stats. I should merch them, but I want to wait to see what trade improvements might occur.
Has there been any word on any upcoming trade improvements? The forums seem to have gotten quiet on trade and storage improvements and I wonder if everyone hasn't just given up and its one of those things that has been swept under the carpet.

1. Auction anything with a perfect inherent mod, i.e. 15^50, 15/always, etc. But keep in mind that 15 isn't the magical number and nobody needs a 15 while enchanted flatbow. Be reasonable
2. Salvage anything with a perfect salvageable mod, or close to perfect that might hold some value: 29HP sword pommel is tradeable, so is 19% staff wrap of enchanting, but a 19% bow grip of enchanting and 29HP hammer mod are merchant material.
3. Merch the rest.

[QUOTE] Actually, that bow is perfect for Vig Spirit Barragers, JI Barragers and Conjure Flame Barragers.
I usually show my golds to guildies and sell em for 5k or something.

Hmmm.... I like to hold races to our Guild Hall in Alliance chat. I'll drop a message like 'Free X type weapon to the first X type class character to appear in our Guild Hall' Heck, I even give away unwanted Stonereapers and other extra Greens.

Go to ascalon and hand them out to beginners??

Or you can sell them for really cheap. If you try and sell stuff that's cheap (highlight the price in your message) then selling isn't as painful.
Trvth Jvstice
I give the golds I don't or won't use to my guildies and allies and they've returned the favor. (As you sew, so shall you reap)

Perfect items still sell, but it's becoming increasingly difficult to sell non-perfect items. For those kinds of items, it's actually better to sell them to the merchant than spending an hour shouting in Drok's or LA to squeeze out a few k.
MasterThrawn
He - thanks for all the replies. I think I will hold some kind of clearance sale or something. I will also be giving away some - better than getting a couple hundred gold from the merchant - hopefully someone can use them. I know I would have killed for some of these when I was starting out...
Chris Blackstar
I see how others do it, sales and such, but I am too lazy for that, I just merched all my unwanted golds and other items, if it was ag nice skin I might have kept it, but most of mine were basic skined golds, only worth the money they represent, not to mention some pericus items are worth more then gold ones.
ump
Unless you're pressed for gold or for space, if you don't want the hassle of selling them, wait for the auction hall feature to get implemented. I have only a few real good, but not near perfect golds that I think I someone would buy, but I don't really want to be bothered selling them, so I'm waiting for now (and possibly a long time).

Give them out for free? I wouldn't mind getting some to help out my characters.
Kook~NBK~
I've done the free giveaway thing, too. With a twist.
I did a "Name that Mini-pet" game in Ascalon City or Shing Jea. Simply stated, the first person to guess which mini-pet I had in my inventory would win a weapon that went with their profession. Switch towns and/or character and repeat!

Sell for uber cheap. ^^
PtiteDiablesse
Frankly, unless I know I can realistically get 10-15K on an item within, say, a half hour then I'll keep it and sell it in town. Otherwise, I'll just either unload it for 1-2K or merchant it. It may seem odd to eat a 10K loss on an item, but it boils down to time and whether spending my time selling an item is going to be more cost-beneficial or whether I should just merchant (or sell it waay underpriced) and use that time to farm. If I can farm 20K an hour, and spend an hour to sell a 10K item... I haven't made 10K, I've actually lost 10K.
Usually, what I'll do is go into town when I'm sick of farming and just unload all the crap I've picked up at prices well under what the items are worth. This ensures I get it out of my inventory quickly.
