Not sure. More details will be released when it gets closer. But if you know anyone that doesn't have an account that is going to do the pve preview to hook them on GW, download the client ahead of time.

More goodies:
Quote:
The Guild Wars Nightfall World Preview Event will feature previews of the new environments, new missions, and new battle arenas.

The entire Istani province of the new realm Elona will be open for player exploration, and players will be able to view the first Nightfall in-game cinematics. In addition, two new arenas will make their debut, the Sunspear Arena and Churranu Island.
http://www.guildwars.com/press/relea...2006-09-12.php

I wonder if we'll actually be able to enter the missions as the Factions preview didn't let you actually go in. Access to a whole province sounds like lots of exploring fun. I really want to see the ingame cinematic.

Quote:
Sunspear was first used as a weapon by the early Order of the Sunspears in Istan and remains a traditional weapon of that Elonian province.
So I guess the Sunspear arena is like the training grounds for teh Order of the Sunspears.

since free invites/guest accounts are not listed i dont think they can

and the 10/14 trial key is chapter 1/2 only not Nightfall

they possibly are doing well enough that they no longer need to offer free trials to lure people to try it

Tuesday 12th September
/...Announced today by ArenaNet, developer of the wildly-popular franchise Guild Wars, the studios latest game Guild Wars Nightfall will make its debut in a massive event open to anyone and everyone who would like to play. The event will take place September 22, 2006, beginning at 07:01pm GMT and running through September 25, 2006 at 6:59am GMT.

The Guild Wars Nightfall World Preview Event will feature previews of the new environments, new missions and new battle arenas. The event will allow players to create Nightfall-specific characters from the six core professions as well as the two new Nightfall professions, the Dervish and the Paragon, and to try out new Nightfall skills. The entire Istani province of the new realm Elona will be open for player exploration, and players will be able to view the first Nightfall in-game cinematics. Key point: "open to anyone and everyone who would like to play."

I assume we'll be getting more info how non-Guild Wars players can play will be coming soon!

or the possibility exists that they are referring to chapter 1 and 2 players.

please note when they announced the other preview events from the other chapters the free/guest/trial accounts were available for the PVP event and then locked until the PVE event.

note no account for the recent PVP event

also note that if they were going to do it they would have given more lead time as well as the magazine codes that were available all over.

which they have not this time

Discounted because of the headline: "Guild Wars Nightfall to Debut in Free Global Event Open to Not Only Millions of Guild Wars Players, But to the World!

Take that as you wish, but I take it to mean: "Everyone!"

And if it's open to everyone, why do they even need codes?

Just download the client and play the event. After it's over, you can't play anymore.

This is what the American site has:

kinda hard to make out any details.

I like how the European site has a timer counting the seconds

extremely stupid move by anet to put the weekend on a major jewish holiday, that takes up THE ENTIRE WEEKEND....im kind of upset at that...but the game comes out a month later anyway so i guess its not a hugely big deal..but still not really fair.

You can't play video games on holidays?

Hmm, sounds like it'll be like the October 2004 open beta weekend where all you had to do was download the game client from guildwars.com and pick an e-mail address for your "account" for the weekend.

While it does sound cool that now we can get all of our friends to try Nightfall for free, I hope the weekend does not suck like the Factions PVP Weekend where anyone could download the client and try it. That weekend was awful with so many people spamming insults and harassing everyone; if someone was being a tool and got their account banned, all they would have to do is make up a new e-mail address and they had a new account. Bleh.

Still, nice to finally know the date of the PVE weekend, can't wait to try out Nightfall

Yeah I completely agree ANet should have taken religious holidays into account when they release special events. I mean what is this world coming to when we don't structure video game releases around Jewish holidays...the nerve...

What makes ME mad is when they schedule these things on my wife's birthday or our anniversary...

She doesn't like it when I choose GW over her.

Better turn off Local Chat, cause it's gonna be that kinda weekend. Small price to pay, IMO.

Oh, and sweet pic, Knightsaber. Any guess to what Profession is the gal between the Warrior and the Paragon? Another warrior?

Man, with the kind of lag everyone was getting just from the weekend mini events; I shudder to think what the pve event will be like with everyone everywhere allowed to play.

think of it as a stress test giving them time to upgrade further if they need to with time to spare

Acctually it is a great idea. Holiday means no school or work, which means more time to play (if you are an in Israel anyways). Then again, I will be stuck with visiting the family, but still.

On Topic: I hope this event has a lot to offer, and will give us an idea of the game. I'm looking forward to it.

Most likely they will have keys posted on the main site so people can make accounts to preview the event if they do not own a GW account already. I remember they did that way back for factions preview event.

FYI, two major holidays: Ramadan and Rosh Hashana.

I don't know if video game playing is prohibited during those holidays or not.
