Candy canes were available during the Winter udpate last year. So wouldn't that mean that the entire supply in Guild Wars is limited? I still always see them being sold by people and sometimes I see people use them in missions and other places. Are they being produced in some other way right now?

Also, I'm alligned with the Kurzicks. I was about to switch to Luxon in Cavalon and it said I have to basically pay 500 gold. Is that the price to pay each time you switch? Or does the amount increase each time?

1. People stockpiled stacks of candy canes. Some people still haven't run out.

2. What are you talking about? To switch alignment, all you have to do is increase your Luxon faction so you have more Luxon faction than Kurzick faction.

if you want to switch allignment of your guild, then yes, you have to talk to the allegiance guy in cavalon/HzH, but for your own personal allegiance having more faction for one side does the trick

as for the candy canes : i still have all 24 canes i got from the xmas presents during the "endshow", never used them :P

Cool, thanks for the answers. Ya, I mean the allegiance of my guild. Of course it's a one person guild, I just registered it to make a cape to match my armor.

I was just curious about those questions.

We still don't know for sure if there will be another Wintersday event. If there is, then there will be a fresh infusion of mass-produced candy canes. If not, then expect candy cane prices to skyrocket. lol

You do not need to switch your guild alliance to play for the other faction. All you need is more faction points of that side for the merchants to talk to you.

and i only have 1k+ left of them.

if they do have wintersday this year (hope so) CC will be of zero value as everybody and their brother have been gathering the collectors items thinking i will get a bunch and get rich selling them.

i can just see someone trying to sell his supply to everybody else trying to sell their supply.

I imagine the 2006 Wintersday event (if there is one) will be held in cantha or elona (nightfall). Since the last big event took place only in cantha it makes sense that they'll do the same for wintersday.

I think most areas of the world have some sort of celebration at or around Christmas time, so if the event is held in cantha or elona it will probably be called something that's more appropriate for that area of the world.

Also the items you have to collect to trade for candycanes (or their equivalent) will be different. This is speculation of course lol.

I've heard of people that are already collecting singed gargoyle skulls in huge numbers (in case someone doesn't know, that's what you traded for candycanes during the wintersday event). I'm afraid these people are going to be really disappointed.

I agree. The last couple events required people to collect items that were unique to that event, such as the Jade Wind Orbs.

For alliance battles though, you do need to switch your guild alliance. Either that or you need to get a guest invite into a guild hall that's aligned with the opposite faction. That's why I keep my old retired second account around. I've got a one man guild aligned with the Luxons, because my main account's guild is aligned with the Kurzicks. I don't really ever AB, but if I ever did need to I've got the ability to choose which side I fight for quickly and easily.

On that note, if anyone ever needs a guest invite into a Luxon guild for ABing, PM me in-game (some of my names are listed to the left of this post) and I can get you invited pretty quickly depending on what I'm in the middle of. My second account doesn't have any cash though so you'll have to trade me the 100g.
