Dunow if anyone knows this yet. Has Anet stated whether they will be included in Nightfall?
If not does everyone look forward to the possibility of them existing?

GW: Phrophecies = $50 + Factions = $50 + Nightfall = $50 + (if you really need them) 5 slots = $50. Grand Total for let's say 2 years of play....... $200 (plus apllicable sales tax in your area.)
WoW: Original Price = $60 + monthly fee of anywhere from $10 - $20, let's call it $15 to be fair. $15 x 24 months = $360 + original price of $60 = $420 (plus apllicable sales tax in your area.)
Oh ya, WoW is waaaay cheaper.
/sarcasm off

wow, 2 new Races (no new classes, although I guess if Horde gets Paladin and Alliance gets Shaman, it's kinda a new class... if you're stupid)
But, back on topic.
I don't want gates in Nightfall, but I won't be surprised if they're there.
Still, I hope only the main missions are gated (if any), and you can explore more logically than in Factions.
I have yet to get a CE version yet, but mostly that is only because I am to impatient to wait for it. I want to get in there too much to wait. SO yea I get each chapter ad play through it at least two times... I'm o my 4th on factions with Necro this time. all this time I never did a necro... lol what the hell was I thinking??? its fabulous!!!
Prophecies I played to death with each class, and 3 of them through Factions as well... so yea. Lots of re playability in PvE ad TONS of it in PvP. I mean what is it now? around 100 class combos now with Nightfall? And now you can add slots as needed???? Why the heck not?
Best of all, walk away for a month or so to actually have a life outside the game, and guess what? your still right where you left off... try that on WoW!!! lol sorry kid your back to the beginning for not paying our extortion subscription for a month or so... TOO BAD. don't miss a payment next time...
Opps. forgot sarcasm is suppose to be off.. lol
Back on topic... The NPE this Sept will not be much help on hints to the gates issue cause if its like Factions It will be as open as possible to allow for the maximum exposure. However there may be a hint at a kind of area staging or something like that to tell how it will isolate areas of the game from runners...
Most likely bridges and one way boatmen (like to riverside in prophacies)...

I agree with those who say you should be able to get to farther areas for a price if you really want.
Its not like you are shortening the game.. you can still go back and do what you want if you haven't already but for people like me who like missions and pvp but not normal quests locked gates are a bore. I enjoyed doing everything possible with my first few characters in prophecies because I felt like I didn't have to and then it was nice to be able to speed them along.. but in factions I felt forced into doing the quests.. which makes them feel like chores which actually turned me off from playing more.
Its not like we are paying a monthly fee once we buy the game they get their money so why do they try to get us to spend more time playing?
Really, I don't get it.
I really hope there are no locked gates.

In my experiance the locked gates in factions kept the really bad players back, so that after about naphui or tahnnaki you rarly run into the horribly bad players. In prophesis the only areas that the bad players weren't in is after THK, or in the maguuma jungle (which they skip). Its especially bad in the desert.
The only part I found tedious in factions was getting the 10k faction for eaither side (especially luxon as they dont have enough non-repeatable quests before gyala).
Storywise the gates wouldn't of made much sense in prophesis though. In cantha the city has parts quarantined off due to what they think it a plauge, and the luxon/kurzick lands are in the middle of a war so it makes sense the restrict travel to those they don't trust. So the gates do fit with the storyline in factions.
I'd actually prefer locked gates in nightfall, simply so there is a minimum on the skill level of the players in the later missions. Though if they don't fit with the storyline I will be against them.

Forget gates. I think the better solution is to put pre-requisites on doing the missions (can't do mission n until you complete mission n-1). I don't care if the people are in the same city as me. If they don't do that, then go back to prophecies-style. With 10 different classes with Nightfall and possibly as many or more characters, I don't want to 'watch the movie 10 times' just to get the elites and armour for the others.

. I've heard a few people claim it looked like it didn't by the way those stupid maps that keep surfacing look.
