2 Indentical Runes with different merchant values?

I always thought that the merchant value was bound to the atributes of the weapons/runes but...

that uhhh..... well that's not much of a question at all

er...thats weirdO_o which two merchants did you talk to? was it rune traders or merchant merchants? By that i mean the id kit selling ones

It's happened to me before; I believe the merchant value is determined by what armor it was salvaged from and not what kind of rune it is.

I don't see a question....perhaps you misread the forum you're posting in?

one was a chest armor salvage and another was a creature armor drop salvage. I know... why the difference? IDK to tell the truth but that's normally what it is from what I have seen. Same goes for Runes that have been purchased from NPC vendor and one that was received from a drop of some kind. you will see a similar difference there. Seems there is a flag of some kind on the item in the SQL Database to tell how the item was obtained... This could be part of the system for detecting dupes as well. Again I'm not sure on that, But I have noticed those variations on runes...
It rarely effects the after market on the runes however... Most players don't pay much attention to base value calculations at all. So its normally ignored.
However I know what you mean, as someone that avoids the Player to player scam market; I really wish the NPCs were more realistic so that selling to them was something worth doing from time to time at least... Oh well. Its worth selling stuff to them for 50gold or whatever to drive the NPC list price down and screw the people that continually scam the poor newbies...

I just kinda meant like if you got one off a grawl armor and one off a charr armor; they'd have different merchant values even if they were the same kind of rune...

The answer to the question is very simple.
The runes were salvaged before they were idenfied. Which means that the rune has the merchant price of the armour drop that it came from instead of the rune trader true price. The best part is that if you take one of those to the rune trader you will also get the same price instead of the normal 25g they give you.
